Goodbye, DeNeusbeer!

Last Sunday was one of the worst days in the history of this league: DeNeusbeer, former Head Admin, decided to leave our staff. The whole team would like to thank you for all your help, all the work and all your thoughts and ideas – the ETF2L wouldn’t have grown that much and well without you.

General community attitude

We have no problems with a free, open minded discussion within our community, nor to change a decision when it is obvious that a very big part of the community disagrees with our initial decision. There are lines that should not be crossed though, and in the matter of the Sandman one of these lines was crossed by several members of the community.

Whether the statements made were serious or meant to be a joke does not matter to us. We consider this kind of behavior to be unacceptable and wish to make a statement here that we will not and never accept this.

When there are problems with members (players, teamleaders or administrators) from our community these should be solved in a mature and friendly way, without any flaming, threatening and/or other kind of asocial behavior.

On two cases we decided to set a point and agreed on a 3-month-ban. Both affected users, cube [Profile] and Rynex [Profile], were informed. Both reacted quite gently and said they can understand and accept our decision.

Rule Change due to community disapproval.

After a wide spectrum of disapproval’s, insults and other malevolent comments,  which made me  feel sad for our growing community. We decided to turn around the rule so that the sandman can only be used If both teams agree upon using it. If one of the teams does not want the sandman it is forbidden:

Rule § 1.3.4 Scout unlocks: Force-a-nature + Energy drink allowed. Sandman is Forbidden.

It is allowed to use the scout unlocks: Force-a-nature and Energy drink. Sandman Forbidden. If both teams agree, Sandman limit can be set to 1 for a match.
The Rule is effective as of now in all running competitions.

General Sandman Limit 1

After the discussion whether the Sandman should be allowed or not have risen up we decided to set a general Sandman Limit 1 in all current competitions. There will be no complete ban for this weapon in Season 4 as the Sandman might be a good new aspect to competitive TF2 gameplay which should be tested. Anyway, there will be a public poll about this issue after the Season has finished.

Rule § 1.3.4 Scout unlocks: Sandman (limited to 1) + Force-a-nature + Energy drink allowed

It is allowed to use the scout unlocks Sandman, Force-a-nature and Energy drink. Sandman is limited to 1, so only one Scout is allowed to wear the Sandman. If both teams agree, Sandman can be completely disabled for a match.

Cheater Bans

Again we had to ban two players which were stupid enough to use cheats in official matches. Both players will get a 1 year ban.

• Champion [Profile] – using Aimbot + Speedhack – ban till 07.03.2010

Default Dates

Like every season, the number of unscheduled matches by the Schedule Deadline is growing much in the last weeks of a Season. Due to this, we will postpone the deadline to schedule Week 8 matches for 1 day. We please all affected teams to get in contact and schedule your matches. All matches which aren’t scheduled by coming Monday, 23:59 CET, will get a Default Date.

Besides, we would also like to announce the official Match Deadline for all regular Season 4 matches will be Tuesday, 31^st March, 23:59 CET. All matches will have to be played and submitted by this date – playoff phase will start right after.

We had to enter a few coin flip decisions for round 2, as some teams did not play their match, but now all results have been entered. That means it’s time for round 3! Here are the details:

Highlander cup round 2

Scout 2on2 cup postponed

When first blood was introduced in arena mode, we held a vote between the participating teams: should we continue with this cup with first blood, or not? The results of that poll, which you can find [here], were very clear: It was a no.

This means that the scout 2on2 cup will be put on hold for the time being. No matches have to be played. We will hopefully see a cvar to disable first blood in the near future, after which we can continue.

New default date system

We are currently transferring to a new, and hopefully better, system to notify the teams of a default date set for them. From now on, when we set a default date, it will be posted as a comment on your match page. Additionally, you will receive an email notifying you of the default date.  The  default dates for the week 7 matches and instagib cup round 2 matches have already been handled by this new system. In time, this will replace the long lists of default dates posted in a newspost on the front page, which i’m sure not everyone reads. But for now, we will still list the default dates on the frontpage, the old way, so you can get used to the new system. Please check if your email address is entered correctly in your profile [Profile link]. Without it, you will not be able to recieve emails from us.

Instagib cup back

An updated version of the instagib plugin for TF2 is available. With version 1.1.4 you can run instagib again on your Windows or Linux server. Please update your servers. The plugin can be downloaded from here:  [Link]

With this delay, we have to alter our instagib schedule a bit, and move everything up by 1 week. This means the schedule deadline for round 2 matches will be this sunday. Please schedule and play your round 2 match if you haven’t done so already, or reschedule if you couldn’t play the date you first scheduled your match.

4th cup winners

The 4th cup is over.  127 matches have been played, and 1 team came out victorious. That team is Team Dignitas. We would like to use this moment to congratulate them on their victory. They had a very exciting final match against Team Coolermaster. It was only decided on cp_granary, the 3rd map, which Dignitas won with the smallest margin possible: they won it 5-4. It sure was an exciting game to see.
