Season 23 powered by Tt eSPORTS Premiership Week 7: LEGO vs. Publiclir

Date March 9, 2016

Season 23 banner 2.0

After yesterday’s game saw European Velocity eSports seizing one of the last playoff spots, we have another big game on our hands. Tonight’s Premiership fixture is of equal importance as both Denmark LEGO and Australia shredded autism are vying for the shot at gold by making playoffs. Last season saw LEGO reaching 4th put alas there was no playoff spot for them then. Standing in their way is this evening is shredded autism. Splitting points with many teams throughout the season and taking European Se7en to a golden cap proves that shredded autism has the capability to dismantle LEGO. This shindig kicks off at 21.30 with UnitedKingdom Sideshow, UnitedKingdom Maks & England DavidTheWin so be sure to tune in.

Season 23 powered by Tt eSPORTS Premiership Week 7: dd + 5 abs vs. Foreskings

Date March 8, 2016

Season 23 banner 2.0

The end of Season 23 is nigh as we enter Week 7 and as you may know, we have plenty of playoff contenders. Some can make it there based on how they fare themselves while others rely on others to choke. One such team is last placed Israel Foreskings, returning from a week off after defaulting their last official, they should feel energized to give it their all in what potentially could be their last game of the season. It is all on the line for the fabled abs of European Velocity eSports as well. If they put those muscles to work and run away with the fixture they would find themselves in the playoffs. Tune in with UnitedKingdom CommanderX, England WARHURYEAH & Scotland Sim at 21.30 for this important fixture. Also give Sideshow’s article a gander, if you haven’t already.

Announcing: ETF2L Highlander S10 Map Test Cup!

Date March 7, 2016

etf2llogo3

Hey, folks!

With Season 10 looming on the horizon, we feel it’s time to shake things up. There’s always some dissatisfaction with map pools in Highlander, and so we’d like to offer our community an opportunity to have a real voice in how things will play out.

With that in mind, here’s the details:
The cup will be separated into three tiers: Open, Mid and High. Each tier will have multiple groups of four teams, based on the signups. The teams will battle it out in a simple round robin system, and the winner of each group will get a nice, shiny pixel trophy to flaunt on their team page. Additionally, we’ll be hosting a single elimination cup aimed at the current Prem teams, and any teams that may want to test their mettle against the cream of the crop of the Superior Gamemode.

We are opening signups from the time this is posted until the 9th of March. This should give you plenty of time to get your team together and prepare.

The games will be played on the following dates for the Open, Mid and High tier groups:

  • Saturday 12th 19:00 CET
  • Saturday 12th 21:00 CET
  • Sunday 13th 19:00 CET

Please ensure you start on time so there’s no delays to the consecutive rounds. You may claim a default win if your opponent isn’t able to play at 15 minutes past the scheduled match time. Unplayed matches will be decided by coin flip. Also, please try to verify your matches as soon as possible. Each of the games will be a best-of-three map match. The maps that we will be testing, to be played in the following order, are:

  1. cp_alloy_rc1b
  2. pl_borneo
  3. koth_coalplant

Alloy and Borneo will be played as Best-Of-One – no ABBA! This means you get to do a heavy fist fight if you can’t agree on the sides! Koth_coalplant_b7 will be played first to 3, as per usual.
To make this clear: we are mostly interested in feedback on the first two maps, so koth_coalplant_b7 is to be played only as the third, decider map.

Sideshow’s View: Week 7 Fixtures

Date March 7, 2016

Season 23 banner 2.0

What a truly ridiculous season of Premiership. Every single team can make playoffs, and it’s the final week. As far as I’m aware, this has never happened before in a season of ETF2L. Of course, for some teams it is more probably than others; for Foreskings in 8th place it would require some form of miracle for them to take them into the fourth place spot, and Planet Express and Infused are likely to cripple each other in at a desperate scramble to the playoff spot. Quite frankly though, anything is possible after last week’s results.

We saw dd+5 abs take both maps away from LEGO, winning the mids on Gullywash to steal a victory and riding the tilt all the way to a comeback on Product. Full credit to chappie, qnx, and dd5f, but it was one of the biggest throws I have ever seen from LEGO. Their inability to close out the maps, even when 2-0 up on Product, has cost them an otherwise-guaranteed playoff spot.

Infused were able to take Gullywash 5-0 from Publiclir, exploiting the map problems and midfight issues that I outlined for a resounding victory. They were unable to take Product though, as atomic and fl1p tore Infused apart.

Planet Express made it much closer than expected too against a nerdRage lacking kaidus’ input. Planet Express came out on top of every midfight on Gullywash, along with the first few on Product, to give themselves a large advantage. nerdRage also failed the majority of their last pushes to give Planet Express as many opportunities as possible, but in the end the superior team came out on top.

We find ourselves, at the end of this journey, on Product and Badlands. The staple of competitive TF2 makes a return at the end of the season and will form the arena of death for many Premiership playoff hopefuls. The top two teams face each other as a preview for the playoffs, and none of the other teams can hope to catch them in terms of points. For the others this is a desperate scrap for survival. 3rd and 4th play each other, as do 6th and 7th. The potential for dd+5 abs to skyrocket from 8th to 3rd place in the space of two fixtures is very high. The reality of that blows my mind, and I doubt the 5 abs can believe it either.

Season 23 powered by Tt eSPORTS Premiership Week 6 Triple Header: Publiclir vs. Team Infused & dd + 5 abs vs. Lego & Planet Express vs. nerdRage

Date March 3, 2016

Season 23 banner 2.0

One man’s loss is another one’s gain, as the saying goes. In this case the loss is on the side of team Israel Foreskings as they forfeit their match against European Full Tilt due to missing players. The gain then, well it’s in the continued legacy of teamfortress.tv‘s unbroken coverage of  every Premiership game since season 20. So let’s get started with letting you know what games are being casted.

Publiclir vs. Team infused

European Unexpected are sitting down in the dumps tied for last with 8 points to their name. Australia shredded autism are sitting 5 points above them in the 4th spot. If Unexpected put on a great performance they might be able to pass them by taking all 6 points up for grabs in this fixture. But do not discount ye olde semi-swedes, they may have had an underwhelming season but there is plenty of talent on that team. Tune in with UnitedKingdom CommanderX, England WARHURYEAH and England DavidTheWin and expect some witty puns on stream number 1.

DD + 5 abs vs. lego

Over on numbero dos we have Denmark LEGO looking to seal the deal on a playoff spot by bringing it to the abs. We all know how painful stepping on a piece of LEGO is, if that is any indication then losing to them would be even worse. Especially if European Velocity eSports want to cling on to their spot in Prem and avoid relegation they need some points as they are currently tied for last. If you wanna see if abs are strong enough to withstand the piercing pain of these Building blocks then tune in with Ireland Admirable, England TurboTabs and Germany Suyooo.

Planet express vs. nerdrage

Down here at the lower end of the spectrum we see Finland Planet Express taking on “the only team that can really beat them European Se7en” as wording made famous by the polarizing Scotland sheepy dog's hand. Will he be able to guide his team to victory against this giant nemesis. Or will the reigning champs once again make short work of an opponent and continue their smooth sailing into the number 1 seed? Well you know what I always write, tune in with UnitedKingdom Sideshow, Scotland nuze and Scotland Sim.
