With Season 24 starting soon, and Dreamhack Summer Qualifiers keeping us excited, let’s get a Preseason Cup going, shall we?

The premise of this cup is to test new maps for possible introduction into Season 24. The maps we will be playing are:

• cp_reckoner_b2
• cp_metalworks_rc7
• cp_snakewater_u6 (as a possible update to cp_snakewater_final1)

Additionally, we’ll be looking at adding the following unlocks (whitelist link here):

• Phlogistinator
• Eviction Notice
• Solemn Vow
• Flying Guillotine
• Wrap Assassin

Finally, we are going to try and simplify our class limits, allowing:

• Two of Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Sniper and Spy
• One of Medic, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer

The only change here being the increase of the class limit for Pyro and Sniper by one.

To make this absolutely clear, we are at the testing stage. These changes will only be implemented into Season 24 if they are well-received by the community.

Now, for the format!

With feedback from the last cup in mind, we’ve decided to make the competition more robust.

High, Mid and Open will be playing Round Robin, followed by an eight team single elimination playoff for each tier.
For Prem, we have something special in mind: a full-on double elimination style tournament with eight teams. No more getting knocked out in the first round!

The whole competition will take place during the weekend of 29th April to 1st of May, just before we open signups for Season 24, and snugly fit in-between qualifiers for Dreamhack Summer. Expect two games a night, Friday through Sunday! Details of the exact timings for the rounds will follow as we get a better gauge of the number of signups.

In the Round Robin stages for Open, Mid and High, only cp_reckoner_b2 and cp_metalworks_rc7 are to be played. For playoffs, as well as the double elimination premiership tournament, cp_snakewater_u6 will serve as the third, tiebreaker map.

DeutschLAN 2016: Announcement

In case you missed the announcement in our official DeutschLAN 2016 Forumthread here is a little summary of the most important facts:

• WHEN? 9th – 11th September 2016

• WHERE? Natur Ferienpark, Nieheim, Germany (see also www.mtalan.de)

• WHAT? A community Highlander LAN-event at the end of summer. We will have enough spots for 12 Highlanderteams this year, potentially 2 more.

• PRICE? Two nights at DeutschLAN (whether you are participating or not) will cost you exactly 100 € with the possibility to already arrive early on thursday, 8th for an additional 20 €. Payment details will be given to your teamleader who signs you up. If you wish to come but not participate, please talk to me ( DCS).

This link will direct you to an application form that your teamleader has to fill out. If you do not know exactly how many members of your team want to arrive early yet, select “no thank you”. However, the money for early arrivals has to be transfered before the event this time. You may add a comment with an estimated number of people that may come thursday.
Once you click “submit” you will receive an Email with the payment info. In order to complete your registration you have to wire the full amount (900 €+) to MTA. In order to provisionally reserve a spot, only half of the amount is needed.
We only have a limited amount of spots this year. Once the tournament is full, we do not accept any more signups. Whoever registers and pays first, gets a guaranteed spot. And yes, that does include Premiership Tier teams.
You may pay for your signup via PayPal (+2% fee).

Who is eligible to play?

• Any team of any skill, as long as the members are all 16 years of age or older (more on under-aged players in the Forumthread)
• Every team needs to have a teamprofile on ETF2L (regular team, LAN-team or Funteam), ideally stating the lineup (at least by the time LAN starts)
• 9 Players in the roster by 9th August. (Exceptions only if agreed upon)
• Your PC, your monitor and peripherals. There will be no PC rental, this event is BYOC.

To clearify, because we have been approached by some people about the topic of banned players:

Players that are banned from competitions of the ETF2L by our Anti-Cheat Team for longer than two weeks when DeutschLAN 2016 begins are not eligible to play at LAN. 
We highly recommend you to inform all players in your team about this crucial piece of information.

How can I support this event?

We are currently looking for sponsors for this event in order to be able to provide certain services to the players (e.g. shuttle from train stations…) and a respectable prizepool. Sponsors could be companies, organisations or websites. If you have any suggestions or contacts, please talk to Hildreth.

There will most likely not be a fundraiser this year.
Since we have been approached by quite some people that would like to contribute regardless, we have set up a PayPal account for DeutschLAN 2016 where you can send your donations to. Every donation made to this account will completely be used for DeutschLAN and not for personal interests.
We are currently talking to valve about adding medals for this year, but we cannot be certain at this point of time. Donators will receive a Supporter Medal, if those get added.
In the unlikely case we are setting up a fundraiser, your donations automatically will be added to it and trigger the perk.
