Thursday – Highlander Season 10 Week 6: Strong Opinions vs. The Bureau

Date April 28, 2016

banner

Join England Maxi & UnitedKingdom Honey Badger with England Jon on camera over on BlackOut TV for some frag-filled fillets of fun from the file of European Strong Opinions against the steadfast squad of European The Bureau. Before them is pl_barnblitz, our Week 6 map, penultimate week before the playoffs begin. Currently our tough laddies European Strong Opinions are sat up in 3rd, 1 point below European Highpander© but a whole 11 behind Slovakia Fair Enough so 6 points tonight are very much in demand. On the other side of the firefight is of course European The Bureau who are stuck in a rut in the middle of the table in 5th place, 1 point clear of Russia WASP but 3 away from 4th place, occupied by European PremTech meaning 6 points swinging for European The Bureau will jump them to 20 points, tying it up with their opponent European Strong Opinions in 3rd place. Who will win? Tune in at 21:00 CEST to find out!

ETF2L Preseason 24 Cup: tiers and details

Date April 28, 2016

Thank you for signing up! Shout out to our sponsors, TF2Pickup.net, teamfortress.tv
and Tt eSPORTS.

You should be able to see the tables and fixtures in the Competitions tab.

Dates for Open/Mid/High

  • Friday 19CET: Round Robin 1
  • Friday 21CET: Round Robin 2
  • Saturday 19CET: Round Robin 3
  • Saturday 21CET: Single Elimination quarter-finals
  • Sunday 19CET: Single Elimination semi-finals
  • Sunday 21CET: Single Elimination grand-finals.

Meanwhile, premiership will be doing a double elimination tournament. Sadly, we had to cut it down to a 4-team cup because of the number of signups. The dates are:

  • Saturday 19CET: Double Elimination Winners Bracket Round 1
  • Saturday 21CET: Double Elimination Winners Bracket Round 2 / Losers Bracket Round 1
  • Sunday 19CET: Losers Bracket Finals
  • Sundays 21CET: Grand Finals

We have to be quite strict with results in order to keep the tournament running. Ties will be decided by coin flip, there won’t be any tiebreaker rounds.

The maps to be played in Round Robin are, in the following order:

  • cp_reckoner_b2
  • cp_metalworks_rc7

Single and double elimination will be playing these two maps as well. If a tiebreaker is needed, the third map will be cp_snakewater_u6.

The whitelist is available here, make sure your server is running it!
(type “rcon tftrue_whitelist_id 5706” into console after “rcon exec etf2l_6v6_5cp”)

Reminder: you may have one merc as default in each match of the cup, provided he has no experience in a tier higher than the one you’re playing in. For example, if you’re in the Open tier, in each round robin match (not map!), your default merc can only be a player who hasn’t played more than three matches in Mid/High/Prem.

Now, for the format. We had to work with a variable number of signups, so it might take some time to get your head around the progression rules. Here is how it works:

Open:

  • 8 groups of 6 teams
  • the winner of each group goes on to play in the single elimination tournament
  • ties will be settled by head-to-head, or tiebreaker scores if necessary (as in season 23)
  • Due to site limitations, you will have 6 matches in your fixtures. Please ignore the “Redundancy” rounds (we are working on sorting this out, for now just leave the pages be)

Mid:

  • 8 groups of 4 teams
  • the winner of each group goes on to play in the single elimination tournament
  • ties will be settled by head-to-head, or tiebreaker scores if necessary (as in season 23)

High:

  • 3 groups of 4 teams
  • the top 2 teams of each group advance into the single elimination tournament
  • the 2 teams with the highest round robin scores will advance straight into the semi-finals

Following that, all the above mentioned tiers will be playing a standard 8 team single elimination tournament format.

Date April 26, 2016

Sign up here! Shout out to our sponsors, TF2Pickup.net, teamfortress.tv and Tt eSPORTS!

All the relevant info can be seen in the previous post.

We would like to inform you that signups will be closing on the 26th of April, at 23:59 CEST.

If you don’t make it in time, contact us on IRC and you may still be able to get a spot. After the signup process, we will begin seeding the teams — you will be able to see the fixtures the following day, or Thursday at the latest.

As we prepare for Season 24 starting in May, we hope to see a lot of good games during the cup, and quality feedback in the days after. See you there!

EDIT: As per usual cup rules, you may use 1 merc by default in all the matches, as long as the player doesn’t have experience in a tier higher than the one you are playing in.

Monday? Well we all need a pick-me-up now don’t we? And what better than sitting down (or standing, your choice) to watch Slovakia Fair Enough and European PremTech battle out on our Week 6 map, pl_barnblitz_pro! Bringing this awesome Monday action to you is BlackOut TV with England Maxi & Wales Funs as your casting duo with England Jon on camera. Slovakia Fair Enough are still sat sky-high at the top of the table, a whole 7 points clear of European Highpander© down in 2nd place, with a win tonight guaranteeing them that poll position in the Grand Final game. However if European PremTech can take 6 for their own then we’ll see them move just above European Strong Opinions and into 3rd place. Who will win? Tune in at 21:00 CEST to find out!
