CTF Rules Reminder & ilike2spin’s Medic Mentor Group

Date October 21, 2012

Week 6 CTF Reminder

With the first Week 6 matches happening tonight, it’s a good time to remind teams about our CTF rules.

  • CTF is played in 10 minute long rounds.
  • First team to reach five intel captures wins the round.
  • If neither team captures five times before time runs out, team with most captures wins the round.
  • A round can end in a draw.
  • First team to win two 10-minute rounds, wins the map.
  • If score is tied after 3 rounds (one round ended in a draw), play a golden cap round with winlimit 1 and timelimit 5.
  • If neither team captures the intel during the golden cap, repeat the round until one team scores a capture.
  • When submitting results for a match that ended in a golden cap, don’t forget to tick the “GC win” box!

If you haven’t done so yet, download the latest ETF2L CTF config here: [League configs]

Please remember to upload one screenshot for each round. For example, if you played three rounds and a golden cap, you need to add 4 screenshots total when you submit the result.

    ilike2spin’s Medic Mentor Group

A couple of weeks ago, one of the top European medics, England ilike2spin, decided to start some brainstorming amongst other medics, in order to improve his understanding of the game. Soon, his idea grew into a small project, the goal of which is to share his and his colleagues’ insights with everyone interested, to help players from lower divisions step up their game. With the sessions being streamed, he’d like to invite everyone to listen and ask questions about medicing:

Hi, my name is ilike2spin from Team Decerto in European TF2’s premier division, and I’d like to introduce my competitive TF2 medic mentor stream, aimed at medics of all abilities. Each week I am joined by two medics from some of the best teams in European TF2 and we discuss the strategies, tips and tricks we use when playing our favourite class, as well as answering any questions we have from stream viewers. Whether you’re a competitive or even public, come join us on Sunday evenings at 19cet.

This week I’m joined by Ace from Elemental Violence, European TF2’s division 1 team and TheSucker, medic for the old yoyotech, Team Sweden and of course SNSD highlander team, with which I’ll be discussing strategies for ctf_turbine_pro as well as asking questions from our viewers.

Join us on Huhy’s stream at 8PM CEST on http://twitch.tv/huhytf2 to follow all the action!

Season 13: Premiership Match – BFF vs. Crack Clan

    Date October 18, 2012

Season 13 powered by Tt eSPORTS: Premiership Match – BFF vs Crack Clan

    VoD cp_process_b10fix [Map 1]

    VoD cp_badlands [Map 2]

Germany Crack Clan did not manage to take over the Premiership lead in their last match against Europe The Last Resort. The reigning kings Europe Epsilon eSports are now sitting on their familiar first place after they caught up on some matches. Tonight, Germany Crack Clan have the chance to take the crown with a win against Europe BFF (at least temporarily).

Europe BFF can catapult themselves to the second place with a 6-0 win but considering their performance against an impressively playing Europe Team Decerto the outcome is not easy to predict.

England Chaplain wrote up a more detailed post over at VanillaTF2, go and check it out!

VanillaTV will cover this match, starting at 21.15 CEST. The casters are yet to be announced but England AcidRenix and England beta and, as usual, you will see Netherlands Comedian in control of the camera.

A Tireless Onrush – Season 13 Premiership Match!

    Date October 16, 2012

Season 13 powered by Tt eSPORTS: Quarantine vs Epsilon eSports – Premiership Match

And so it happens that after Monday, a horrible sign of the beginning of the week (and what a beginning it was, with cookye scoring whooping 40 frags against Decerto on Snakewater), comes Tuesday – one step closer to the weekend. It’s rather unusual to see almost every day of the week packed with blasts and explosions – and yet, it’s happening as the best amongst representatives of our beloved continent duke it out for fame and glory (and points). Whether or not the revised ruleset had an impact on the situation, we should cheer up, as tonight, the S12’s champions, Europe Epsilon eSports, lead by the ever so charismatic France KnOxXx, despite their crew undergoing some serious changes before the season, will continue their undefeated journey towards defending the title, as they stumble upon Kazakhstan Quarantine, who will take this chance to show everyone they are a force to be reckoned with. Will they manage to slow down the advance of the fierce warmachines? Find out with our preliminary school combo – England Arx, England Beta and Netherlands Comedian, teaching you the alphabet since 2012, over at VanillaTV!

Highlander Season 3 Signups, Division Changes, Playoffs & Prizes

    Date October 16, 2012

    Highlander Season 3 Signups

Season 3 signups are now open! You can now sign up your team on the competitions page.

    >>>Signup<<<

Do not forget to choose your desired division when signing up. If you created a new team or feel you can jump a division, feel free to apply for the desired division anyway. To prove you are capable of the division you applied for, we require you to submit screenshots of recent practice wars or tournaments where you scored decent results against teams that play on the level you aim for. There is no magical number of screenshots you have to submit, just submit what you have.

Please note that the success of your request mainly depends on the free slots in the division you aim for. Established teams will be favoured over new teams, or teams that request to jump a division. The screenshots have to be uploaded to online image storage (for example you can use imgur or Dropbox), zipped archives with tons of pictures attached to an email will be ignored. Please send your application to staff@etf2l.org.

The division application has to include the following information in order to be considered. Incomplete applications will be ignored!

    • Team name
    • Team link on ETF2L.org
    • Division you apply for
    • Link to the online photo album
    • Reasons why your team deserves to be placed in the division you applied for (optional)

Signups close on October 24 23:59 CEST. Any team that signs up later will be placed on the waiting list and has a high chance of replacing dropped teams during the first two play weeks.

    Division Structure Changes

Season 3 onwards will see an introduction of Premiership as the highest division in Highlander, to match the division structure of ETF2L’s 6v6 league.

Teams that would qualify for Division 1 under the current structure will be moved to the new highest division, and top teams from lower divisions will be promoted accordingly. If you placed in the top 3 of your group in Season 2, you may apply directly for a higher division.

To further align with the 6v6 division structure, we will also hold playoffs in the Premiership Division. The top 3 teams at the end of the regular season are invited to the playoffs which will use the same system as the 6v6 playoffs, meaning in the first week the third plays the second and the winner of that match plays the first in the grand final. Every playoff spot has a guaranteed money prize.

    Prizes

The anonymous donor struck again and will once more provide a large pile of money for the best Highlander teams. The total amount of €2,500 from Mr. X is bulked up to €2,565 by ourselves and leads to the following distribution:

    • Premiership winner: €1,035
    • Premiership second: €630
    • Premiership 3rd: €405

If you paid attention, you may have noticed that this only banks up to €2,070. The rest of the money in the prize purse is used for an affiliated secondary playoff that is played as single elimination playoff. All teams in the Premier Division that did not make it to a playoff spot and the top 4 Division 1 teams are invited to participate. More details on this will follow at a later date.

The distribution of the remaining €495 for the secondary playoffs is as follows:

    • Winner: €360
    • Second: €135

This way, teams that are not ready for the absolute top in Europe still have something to fight for! The secondary playoffs will most likely be a one-time thing for Season 3 only.

Everyone who is not in money range can still win something: Shiny medals for your Team Fortress 2 characters that will be delivered as soon as they are done. On this note: We have not forgotten about the medals for our other Highlander seasons, Ultiduo tournaments or 6v6 seasons and are still working on getting them into the game. More information will be provided when it is time.

    Schedule

The schedule for Highlander Season 3 is as follows:

    • Signups: October 15 – October 24
    • Start of the schedule week: October 29
    • Start of week 1: November 4
    • End of week 5: December 8
    • Catchup week / Tie breakers: Until December 23
    • Playoffs: January (more details later)

    What else?

We are still working on deciding the final map pool based on the received feedback. Let us know what you think, whether you agree or disagree with our proposal. The final map pool will be announced later this week.
