Season 16 powered by BlackOut Gaming: Premiership Qualifier

Before the season starts, two playoffs have to be played, with the first one being a contest between Fenneks eSports by SimRai.com [season 18 and The Last Resort. Both teams were recently formed and with some impressive results against established Premiership teams. However, there is only one Premiership spot available. The winners will earn that while the losers will have to be content with playing in Division 1.

Season 16 powered by BlackOut Gaming: Division 1 Qualifier

Tonight will see the premiere of Season 16 – the first match of the Division 1 qualifier between 4-25 and Rip the #dream. The Russians replaced TERRORISTS after a whole 12 days of existence led to a pre-season fold. The community was asking for 4-25 to be given a chance, we’ll have to see whether the Russians can live up to the community hype! The winner of this match will go on to face elemental violence for a spot in Division 1, and the loser will play in Division 2!

The Provisional Divisions

The signup count for Season 16 powered by BlackOut Gaming is 312 teams with a few on the waiting list to compensate early drops. The divisions are still subject to change, there is no guarantee for anyone except those teams who earned promotion or stayed comfortably in the middle of their division.

If you are not happy with the division that your team has been placed in, please contact an admin in IRC as soon as possible. Keep in mind that much like during the signup process, you must provide evidence of your ability to perform at the level of the division you wish to enter. This means, at minimum, a screenshot album displaying performance of your team against other similar-skilled teams. These pictures can be taken from PCWs, scrims, cups, other leagues and so on. However we do not necessarily take into consideration screenshots that were submitted after the deadline.

The divisions will be finalized and divided into groups on Saturday night.

Qualifiers

Much like in the previous two seasons, we had more applications than slots for our two top divisions. Because it worked so well in the past and to give you all some pre-season TF2 action, we will again host qualifiers for the Premiership Division and Division 1.

One spot is up for grabs in the Premiership Division. The Last Resort and Fenneks eSports by SimRai.com [season 18 will compete for this one slot. The winner of this game will play in the Premiership Division, and the loser will play in Division 1. This match will be played as a best of 3 between Sunday 15th and Thursday 19th.

In Division 1, one spot is up for grabs. Three teams will compete for this spot using a slightly different system than was used in Season 15. The first match will be between Rip the #dream and TERRORISTS. The winner of this match will progress and play against elemental violence. The winner of this final match will earn the spot in Division 1 and the other two teams will play in Division 2.

Additional Prizes

A massive thanks to  private_meta for donating €250, meaning we have additional prizes available to hand out in the following structure:

• Division 1 winner: €80
• Division 2 winners: €40
• Division 3 winners: €22.50

Just to clarify, that means every Division 2 winner (2a, 2b…) and every Division 3 winner (3a,3b,3c,3d…) will receive a money prize for finishing first. We hope this can encourage competition in these divisions!

CP_Metalworks_rc5 – One Night Cup

With cp_metalworks_rc5 having been added to the S16 map pool, we are going to host a one night cup focused on the map on Thursday the 19th of September so that teams have a chance to play on the new map in a more serious enviroment before the season starts! Both fun teams and 6v6 teams can enter the tournament so sign up your team here. Signups will close at 23:59 CEST on Wednesday the 18th.

We will be using the official Season 16 version of the map which is cp_metalworks_rc5

As usual, the cup will be split into higher and lower brackets. The top 4 teams from each bracket will recieve a shiny pixel trophy on their team page respective of their place and bragging rights.

The schedule is as follows –

• 20:00 CEST – Ro16 Starts
• 20:45 CEST – Ro8 Starts
• 21:30 CEST – Ro4 Starts
• 22:15 CEST – Finals Start

Each round will be a bo1 on cp_metalworks_rc5. Please make sure you have downloaded the map before the Ro16 to ensure that matches are played on time!

The rules will be the same as the ETF2L Season 16 rules with the exception of a change in the merc rule – A team may use 2 mercs by default and 3 if the opponents agree. Any disagreement with merc usage can be disputed by contacting an admin here.

Staff Updates

Seasonal staff changes are inevitable in a volunteer organization. Our long-term AC Admin/League Admin/Media Producer huhystah has decided to move on and concentrate more on playing (and his job). We are grateful for the countless hours you put into pretty much every job within the Staff and hope you can still enjoy this game as a player.

Another departure, quintosh can’t commit to his role as AC Admin anymore and thus steps down from the Staff. We’d like to thank him for his work towards keeping this League clean, and wish him good luck for the future in whatever he does.

Ruleset Updates

Based on pre-season feedback, we have made the following changes to the Season 16 ruleset:

• Class limits are no longer enforced by the 6v6 config
• cp_snakewater has been replaced with cp_snakewater_g7 – Download Link

Update: This somehow escaped the news post, but with the introduction of the unlocks below, a class restriction of 1 will also apply to the Pyro.
