Season 27 Whitelist Announcement!

Date May 9, 2017

Season27Banner

This whitelist will not affect the Fresh Meat Challenge.

Over the past few weeks, leagues have been collecting feedback from polls or personal conversations (for Premier/Invite players) regarding potential Global Whitelist changes. With the collected opinions, administrators from around the globe came together and expressed their region/league’s opinion. The recent threads on teamfortress.tv as well as GentlemanJon’s survey results were also taken into account in our meeting.

The participating leagues in the meeting were ozfortress, ETF2L, ESEA and UGC.

Prior to the meeting, a preliminary list of the most contentious current weapons (see below) was compiled and the meeting was centred around that list. It was agreed that the meeting would be held in private, as the previous meeting in the TF.TV Discord amounted to essentially several hours of arguing resulting in whoever spoke the loudest having the greatest input. However, as we believe transparency to be essential when considering such changes, we have documented the discussions regarding each weapon below.

Highlander Season 12 Premiership Semi-Final: Strong Opinions vs Tourettes Chessclub @ 21:15 CEST

Date May 7, 2017

HL_S_12

Buckle up for some intense Highlander action!

This evening, two of the most well-known teams in Highlander will face off in the first BO3 Semi-Final in the Premiership division. Both teams have had a few obstacles to climb over the course of the season, but have nonetheless managed to get a shot at the title of ‘The Best Highlander Team in Europe’. Our Semi-Finalists for tonight need no big presentation, we both know them, the team to beat, European Strong Opinions, versus the old powerhouse, European Tourettes Chessclub.

European Strong Opinions: The team universally labelled as the favourites to win ETF2L’s Season 12 have over the course of the season lost one official. Week 3 saw Strong Opinions fall short to Luxembourg Super Dickmann's KANNONEN!, a team which just one week prior to the ETF2L official managed to secure a win over the Spain CeeJaey-led team in the UGC Season 21 Upper-bracket Finals. Subsequently after losing to the Dickmann’s, Strong Opinions underwent a huge roster change, adding Maros and adamracek; replacing Thalash and alle. Despite this, the three-time champions of Premiership managed to bounce back during the last two weeks, securing two 6-0 wins over both Poland Feila finanzieren durch DROPS and Latvia Super Dickmann's JUNIORS!

European Tourettes Chessclub: Sweden Khazul and his mercenaries started off Season 12 with yet another default to Strong Opinions. In sharp contrast to the many memes regarding the Grand Final of last season, Chessclub’s individual talent alone makes them a lineup foolish to underestimate. From ETF2L’s Season 11 to 12, an unstable roster has had the team slip against lesser opposition, but during the latter, Tourettes Chessclub only lost out to Luxembourg Super Dickmann's KANNONEN!, ignoring the default given to Strong Opinions in Week 1. With one of, if not the best North American Heavymain UnitedStates KarlSagan from the ever-dominant UGC Platinum team Dunning-Kruger Effect, the underdogs of this matchup could very likely deliver a game keeping us on the edge of our seats.

Will the overall favourites European Strong Opinions secure their 4th Premiership final to contest succeeding the fabled SouthKorea SNSD‘s record of three Premiership titles? Or will the legendary underdogs European Tourettes Chessclub rise up to the occasion to show their true worth? Tune in to the BlackOut TV cast with infamous Beggar’s Bazooka user Switzerland HartzFartz and International OriginalVipa with Netherlands Wiethoofd behind the camera at 21:15 CEST to find out!

Date May 5, 2017

hugs17

We here at ETF2L.org are not the only people working as volunteers in order to deliver content and provide you with an awesome Team Fortress 2 experience. There a bunch of other amazing gamers out there, including the hugs.tf crew!

Hugs.tf? What’s that supposed to be?

Hugs.tf is a small team of creators based in the UK. They raise money for Special Effect, who support people with physical disabilities and help them improve their mental and physical health through videogaming, streaming live Team Fortress 2-related events via Twitch.

Hugs17 is a 26 hour live stream taking place across the weekend of the 6/7th May 2017. Running from 18:00 CEST on Saturday 6th May until 20:00 CEST Sunday, with a selection of scheduled events such as competitive showmatches, open public servers, and arts and crafts related to Team Fortress 2. The event will also feature guest appearances from personalities within the European Team Fortress 2 community.

Coverage of the event is being brought to screens via a partnership with Essentials.tf, who handle the majority of the video and live in-game content.

Make a difference: Donate to hugs.tf!

Donations can be made at hugs.tf/donate, and in game items can be donated via a partnership with scrap.tf.

So, what exactly are they streaming?

You can find the full schedule of the various events at hugs.tf/schedule.

You should especially (but not only) check out the 6v6 showmatch between the old champions Reason Gaming and the new EU overlords European Se7en on saturday at 20 CEST!

Due to the success of the Fresh Meat Challenge we are going to be adding an extra tier to Season 27. The Fresh Tier will have similar experience restrictions to the Fresh Meat Challenge. However only 6v6 teams can signup, fun teams are ineligible to play in regular seasons. We will also be adding Friday as a valid day to play for all tiers, meaning that games can be played from Sunday to Friday. This new tier however is subject to getting enough signups to run both fresh meat and the standard four tiers. If there are not enough teams then teams signed up for the fresh meat tier will be placed in open.

All participants (excluding Buddies) are limited to a maximum skill experience (applicable only at the date signups are closed):

  • Maximum 15 matches in ETF2L Open played.
  • Cannot participate if you played in ETF2L Open playoffs or above, or above ETF2L Division 5.
  • Cannot participate if you played in UGC Silver or above (the number of UGC Iron or Steel matches will not be counted).
  • Cannot participate if you have played in the Fresh Meat Challenge Playoffs.

The above restrictions apply to both Highlander and 6v6 seasons, cups do not count towards this limit.

You can still play if you have more experience but only as a buddy. The rules for Buddies are as follows:

  • Are restricted to playing matches only as the Medic class.
  • Restricted to a maximum of 2 Buddies per team.
  • Buddies need to be tagged with the appropriate role on the team profile.
