its a rly rly nice documentation!!!!
“Moral Kombat takes a look into the controversial subject of violence in video games. Director Spencer Halpin shows the constant conflict between the game creators’ first amendment right to make a violent game and the eminent threat that violence poses on the next generation. In addition, the film is full of the latest green screen and high-definition technology that allow watchers to actually envision the world of gaming. Filled with interviews from lead game designers, politicians, parents, and psychologists, this film provides a candid take on the influence games have on youth today.”
rly liked it
Very nice movie. To me it was nothing surprising about that guy telling how they first played Mortal Combat with his friends on a arcade machine and when they saw fatality end when guy riped other guys head off that they become addicted to the game and played it for hours.
Becouse imo people love violence. Everyone does. At least some form of it. Doesn’t have to be physical. Like women. They love verbal one, thrust me on this one. Others might just use their position to make your life miserable. Like many bosses here in Croatia, and still I think of it as a type of mental violence.
I remember in old highschool days how our psychology teacher was telling us how human psyche is consisted of ego, superego and id (which is mostly subconscious). And id consists of Eros (the libido) and Thanatos (the drive for destruction). If we didn’t have those parts we would have never evolved and survived as a species. So, there is nothing wrong in loving violence. We all subconsciouslly love it.
To go one step further you could also argue we would never have evolved if we weren’t carniverous, and therefore loved killing and eating other living things. Only carnivours require intelligence to survive, hunting, stalking laying traps etc.
Look at the world of animals, all the stupid ones are herbivores, built for watching out and running away, and you dont need to be clever for that.
Carnivours are stealthy and cunning and clever, as they have to be to survive, hence any intelligent life in this galaxy almost has to come from a carniverous root.
So in our subconcious: Killing=Eating=Survival+fun=Violence is fun
Hurrah for violence.

I agree, I’ve always thought vegetarians were stupid.

If you enjoy killing real living and breathing creatures and then devouring their flesh, there’s something seriously wrong with your head, mate. I hope your family is afraid of you and they keep their distance.
On a serious note, this here documentary was very enjoyable, some parts were even nostalgic. I really liked the thought of that american spy for some reason :) Anyway, thanks for the link.

or going to the supermarket and buying something that has nothing at all to do with the thousands of abused beings. ofc, one needs intelligence for that.
eating meat has nothing to do with us evolving (I guess you mean the “big leap” of having suddenly 3x the brain size somewhere in evolutional history), it’s simply not possible and if you had any idea of genetics you’d understand that. Also, we’re for the most part herbivores as well, (ye, i might agree on omnivores, cause we CAN eat meat, yet as thinking beings we can also choose NOT to) so the joke’s on you.
back to topic, nice docu :)
I do have a good knowledge of evolution, and I’m afraid you’re wrong about eating meat having nothing to do with it.
When we branched from our simian cousins one of the driving forces behind our evolutionary leap was the fact that we started eating meat and sucking marrow from bones that other creatures couldn’t get to. Having a big brain requires eating a lot of calorific food, meat and bone marrow being prime examples. So, with eating meat and having your big, prehistoric human/ape brain, you would have survived more often than one who didn’t suck on dem bones. Eating meat and marrow kept you alive and got your genes passed on.
I was actually referring to the fact to be a hunter you need intelligence to catch your prey. Not always, granted, there are plenty of ambush hunters that rely on camoflage or other techniques, but if you look at the smart animals, they are all hunters. You need intelligence to come up with hunting strategies, working togther etc. Therfore the cleverest hunters survive more often and intelligence is selected for by our wondeful mother nature. To be herbivorous requires no intelligence, just the ability to see 360 degrees, live in bigger and bigger packs and run away fast, no brains required here.
Also, we are indeed omnivores, I mean, how many herbivores in the animal world do you know that have incisors and canine teeth?
There’s a clip from Psychonauts in this so it must be good.
And it is.
I dont get it, what choice did you have in GTA 3?
The only choices I remember I had was killing people with guns or running them over with a car or kill them with a baseball bat.
