i actualy had awful exp with final release since nothing is changed from RC and only reason why im using it is cuz i upgraded from vista using the upgrade tool (saving all the settings) and thus removing all the bugs i had with clean install
Animal just likes to hate on Win7, obviously had a massive fail with it in RC
Personally used it over 3 different machines from Beta, RC, and now Final, 32 bit on two and 64 bit on one, unless your PC is very old, or has 1 gig of ram, you may as well install 64 bit.
Wireless handling was far better in win7 for my PCs needing it, though it was still pretty much fail, like on XP ^^, the ones on cable never had any ping issues or anything, FPS got an increase in everything, even tf2, basically, unless your PC hates you, Win7 is pro.
im about to format my pc. i has c2d e6750 @ 2.66ghz and 2 gb ram, can I actually run smoothly the 64bit version?

barely gonna get over 60fps and id get 2 more gigs… 64bit os uses like 20% more ram just out of the box

Urban myth, it uses like 5% more at the most
It’ll run it fine, :)

Wait, bugs with clean install? Sounds like your install buggered up then, if it’s a clean and new Win7 disc a clean install should be fine, an upgrade install is what messes you about~

Bs.
You should get more RAM tho, 4GB is standard these days :)
And it’s not like it costs anything these days.
ddr2 is getting expenisve :<
I’m having massive fps problems with w7, also bigger ping and lots of choke (0choke and about 80-100 bigger fps with xp :D)
dunno whats wrong, i’ve tried to disable lots of features (aero, uac or whatever its called etc). This is latest w7 version dl yesterday from microsoft. other than tf2 it works well and love it.
Any tips from old w7 users how to get this perform better with tf2 :p?
Right click hl2.exe and then go onto the compatability tab and disable visual themes
e6400 @ 2.13ghz, 3GB ram and nvidia 9500 so dunno if its just my pc or what
ps. this is my 1st go with w7 and never tried vista so all tips are welcomed

This thread should do the job if you’re still getting the weird choke issue:

I installed W7 today, everything went really smooth. I did the networkthrotteling fix, so choke problems are pretty much gone. But there are some issues: I get a wierd stutter for a split second every five to twenty seconds. I think it mainly comes from the aspect that I have low fps. Which is quite strange, since I am running the same config (m0re’s) and I disabled the aero theme. It was running fine on XP. Is there anything else I can do to either fix that stutter or increase my fps?
Secondly, there is a problem with the sound. I disabled the feature which mutes the game when you are ingame. But now whenever I am in mumble with somebody it randomly makes the ingame sounds quieter and louder.
These are pretty much the only problems I have run into atm, thanks for helping me in advance.

Thanks, I already did that tho. It’s not as bad as I wrote it to be.
