The stutter could be bad rates, I used to get that even on XP until I adjusted them, first off do fps_max and set it to your screen refresh rate +1, then take your average fps, set your rate to that *1000, and set cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate to the average fps

Not perfect by any means, but it always worked for me, etf2l config limits them, but still worth setting up so you can get as close as possible to it.

If not that, set em back to defaults and try updating drivers, for everything, not just graphics, if that doesn't work, try the service optimisation site: http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/servicecfg.htm

Also check this guy's supertweaks anyway, most of which I'd recommend doing myself - http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/supertweaks.htm

As for the ping issue, check out the above 2 links, and if that doesn't work it's probably network hardware, tf2 just reporting it wrong (it tends to) and you getting a placebo effect, or something I have no damn idea about and you probably can't fix anyway :P

Of course if anyone else has ideas then listen to them!

While surfing the web yesterday I did come across a solution to your problem, let me try to find it.

I have a weird problem that I'm pinging about 20ms higher than usual. For example, a good ping for me (even on a UK server!) is about 50. I heard this was a w7 problem, anyone know how to fix it?

There's no ping spikes, it's just constantly that little bit higher. Makes playing on dutch servers a bit of a pain when I'm pinging about 80/70 for no reason.

I installed W7 today, everything went really smooth. I did the networkthrotteling fix, so choke problems are pretty much gone. But there are some issues: I get a wierd stutter for a split second every five to twenty seconds. I think it mainly comes from the aspect that I have low fps. Which is quite strange, since I am running the same config (m0re's) and I disabled the aero theme. It was running fine on XP. Is there anything else I can do to either fix that stutter or increase my fps?

Secondly, there is a problem with the sound. I disabled the feature which mutes the game when you are ingame. But now whenever I am in mumble with somebody it randomly makes the ingame sounds quieter and louder.

These are pretty much the only problems I have run into atm, thanks for helping me in advance.
