In an outburst of amazing awesome-ness, i managed to get my headset wire rapped around my foot, and accidentally yank it off my desk and break it. Still work for the moment, but the ear muff joints are snapped and electrical tape isn’t quite strong enough so they are incredibly uncomfortable.
ANYWAY
Would like some opinions on headsets. I currently have/had a Medusa NX5.1 and due to the rediculous cost compared to what else you could get for the price, would like to look at alternatives. Surround sound isn’t totally necessary although definately preffered. Not really bothered about how good they are for music as i already have a sick set of speakers for that.
Comfort > Sound Quality > Mic Quality
Care about things in that order. I wouldn’t go as far as to say money is no object, but im definately happy to pay up to about £90 assuming they are worth it. Only headsets im considering atm is the Siberia V2 and PC-350’s.
Not even going to consider the Fatal1ty headsets, they’re alright but crazy overrated.
Cheers, Adam
Comfort: Steelseries 5H/Siberia v2
Sound quality: Some expensive sennheiser with a desk mic
Bang for buck: Plantronics 777 (very uncomfortable for the first 1-3 days but very durable and sounds just fine)
Since you’re already considering the siberia v2 I’d say go with that.

just bought the Steelseries Siberia v2 after previously owning a few Plantronic and Sennheiser sets. most comfy headset i have ever had. i dont think they are as tough as my Sennheiser 151’s and the sound isnt quite there…but it is very good. definitely recommend purely on comfort…. also keep your ears warm in the winter!
My fatal1ty is awesome! fu!
iv got the medus 5.1 progamer edition, very comfortable but makes u look like a tit.
sound quality is very good and customizable. only gripe is the wires…theres 5 of them
=[
Steel series siberia’s everytime.
Their about 50/60 quid but totally worth it, im tall and clumsy and break my headsets frequently but i’ve had these about 8 months and are still going strong, the mic clips on so it will just clip off if u pull rather than rip out.
Sound qulitys very decent and is comfortable and suits any head no matter how fat or thin.
Plus they look sexy so you can wear them in public listning to your ipod without feeling like a big nerd with “F8TAL1TY PRO GAYMER” written on it.

Has anybody ever tried those Siberia Neckband Headsets?
Was wondering if they’re any good…
ipod headphones tbh
senheiser hd 555 + desk mic = win
ps. dont go for anything steelseries – worst build quality ive ever come accross in any product, the hardware used is absolute rubbish. the sound quality isnt even worth mentioning as its that bad! i had the original steelseries headset and the siberia headset; the mic on both lasted a month if that.

Are you drunk or something? Or is it pure stupidity? Steelseries are the best headphone marks man. I have a siberia for 1,5 years and absolutely no problem. ^^
pure stupidity

Using the same combo, it is indeed win.
While I have to agree with the comment about the Siberia’s sound quality compared to higher end “audiophile” sets (or even midrange ones) the build quality, in my experience, was fine.
In my opinion the Sennheiser HD555s (~£70) and HD595s(~£110) are great sets of headphones that really produce brilliant sound quality – but you really wont see the difference between this and your standard gaming headsets unless you have a decent sound card. Well you might see some difference, but it wouldn’t be worth the extra money.
Comfort-wise I can only speak about the HD595s as they’re the only ones I have used for long periods of time, but given that the frame of both the HD555 and HD595 are pretty similar I would guess this is true for both pairs.
So my advice would be
– if you have a good sound card Sennheiser HD555s (or Goldring DR150 actually ~£60) would be a great choice and you really will be able to tell the difference.
– if you don’t have a dedicated sound card and rely on onboard sound then go with a Siberia as they seem to get great reviews.
Mic-wise the usual recommendation is to get the cheap Elara Clip-On mic, however in my experience of it it’s a bit crap and picks up way too much on background noise – particularly if you’re clipping it near to an open headset. The zalman clip on (the name escapes me) is pretty good but I can’t find a Europeon vendor for it.
So yeah… that ^
