NEWS TEAM ASSSEMMMBLLEEE!
Yeah so basically im going to build a new computer. As i couldnt sell my sexy ddr3 ram i won at lan i thaught fuck it i may as well build a new computer around it.
My budget is around the £600 mark(If my system will be uber more sexy for more money i’ll listen!), and bearing in mind i already have ram/hdd i should be able to buy some sexy systems with that wedge.
Are there any kind gentlefolk out there who are up to date on todays technologies and wish to help me build a beast? Im not really worried about future proofing just want it to run games decently now.
Ideally i’d like to buy componants from http://www.novatech.co.uk as their nearby and cheap unless anyone else knows of any uber cheap uk places, bearing in mind novatech i can pickup from their store so -p&p.
Reply here or add me to steam and i will provide you with tappybear love and i39 fish fingers.
Current shiz i already have:
Ram = 4GB kit (2GBx2), Ballistix Tracer 240-pin DIMM (with LEDs), DDR3 PC3-12800 memory module
HDD = 200gb Sata
CD/DVD

Ive been told this website is cheap – http://www.scan.co.uk/
but the one you have is probs better since you can pick up your stuff :D
I have just what u need for the ultimate tf2 experience: a pair of nvidia 3d glasses. Ask anyone who attended assembly summer to hear how kewl they are. Pm in irc. Ps. I want mayo with my fingerz.
First off what are the specs for the ddr3?
Also i prefer Overclockers or Scan.co.uk over nova.
Head over to overclockers.co.uk and select these, gr8 system even tho its amd (this cpu is between i5/i7)

That system you have posted above isnt too bad lewis woof, however i dont need a hdd or dvd player so you’ve got an extra 80 quid or so to improve it! :D

You get 2 copies of Dirt 2 with that setup, which you can sell for ~55£ making the setup cost about 600 £.
I don’t know about the graphics card, you could just as well choose an ATI 4890 (they are pretty much the same). However the 5770 has DX 11 support, which the 4-series doesn’t have. And later on you could buy another 5770 / 4890 and crossfire them and improve the performance a lot. The i7 D0 overclocks really well, you could most likely get it to 4 ghz.
You might also need a 1/2 fans for the antec 300.
don’t go with amd
intel i7> anything

That build Salmon posted looks good. Only thing though, pay the extra for a radeon 5850 or just get a 4890. Better value for money for either.
Cheers salmon, allow me to gander!
And Sfynx http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/9028/puter.jpg Novatech are pretty much the same :o – Lets check another £100 in there and make it pro, which parts are the weakest/what can we improve most performance wise whislt spending £100 cpu/gfx?

The 5850s are overpriced.
And two 4890s / 5770s perform better and cost just as much.

Oh wow, the 5770’s have dropped in price ALOT from what I remember, nevermind then. :)
Cheers Salmon i’ll do a bit of tweaking and remove the cd drive and all looks gravy! I’ve never used thermal paste before, do i just kinda “glue” the outside edge of the cpu and put it in the slot? Screw in the fan and im good to affix the mobo on?
Last edited by Tapley ❤,
i used the base system that Salmon made, its a quite solid set, exept i swapped a few things around, diffrent mobo/cpu (black DVD writer (fits with the case), cheaper 5770 at the store) exept it dousn’t come with dirt 2 as far as i know
i myself am more a fan of AMD processors for these lower budget systems, while the processor is not nearly as powerfull and can’t overclock as good (though you can still achive some awesome stuff) it is a much cheaper system and its just under budget while it still has really good preformance in-game
edit: the thermal paste isn’t needed really, its alreaddy supplied with the NH-U12P, and its pretty good quality paste aswell

Well i dont need delivery or a cd/dvd player so – £25 on that also comedian :>
So i guess it comes down to the duel of ITEL vs AMD, tuna vs comedian :o.
And does the graphics card make matter? Like ocuk vs novatech version of that card? different clock speeds or just cooling? (goes to check)
Yeah their the same clock speeds hmmm, ah well anyway with VAT salmon’s cheaper and has colin mcrae i can ebay ^_^
