The cup has begun and Final Tiers have released. Late Joining the cup is possible until the end of round 2.
This post includes some service announcements regarding the cup as well as information on how to give feedback & Tips and Tricks for the maps.
Mappool update: Since the cup announcement a new version of pl_downfall has released. The experimental cup will be switching to use the newest version pl_downfall_b13 instead of b12. For this reason we have decided to move Downfall to Round 3 instead of Round 1. Please see the cup Homepage for the updated schedule.
Map Pool & Map Feedback
The cup is going to run the newest version available of each map. As the maps being played are currently being developed updates might happen during the cup. Keep an eye on the announcements in the etf2l discord and the season homepage in case a new version of the map releases.

- pl_eruption_b15 – tf2maps.net
- pl_downfall_b13 – tf2maps.net
- tow_tetsudo_b10c – tf2maps.net
Afer each round has ended a map specific feedback poll will be uploaded on the matchpage. If you have a bye week but still played that map feel free to use the link on another teams matchpage. Additionaly the individual mappers were invited to open a thread on the etf2l discord map_feedback section.
At the end of the cup there will also be a general overarching feedback poll send on the etf2l website/discord. We invite everyone to include any positive or negative feedback for the maps in their feedback. Whether its pictures of clipping issuses, texture issuses (at certain settings for example), point balancing, sightlines, spawn design, layout, gamemode specific(for TOW), etc.
Tips & Tricks
For Eruption please check out the Welcome to Eruption post made by rgl as well as a basic callout guide (alt link) made by grey.
Divulgence is a Hybrid payload map. On BLU, first capture a Capture Point to unlock the cart then capture the Payload Cart to win. On RED, defend your points until the timer runs out. Divulgence is currently being played in Asiafortress and was recently played in oceania. Check out demos.tf for reference gameplay.
Downfall has never been played in competitive. Have fun and be creative, may the best callout idea’s win.
Tetsudo has similarly never been played in competitive and is also of a relatively new gamemode type in Tf2. Tug Of War: Push the Neutral Payload Cart into the enemy team’s territory without allowing them to do the same. Tug of War is similar to the Push gamemode in overwatch.
On Tetsudo the cart pushes faster in already capped territory. Spawn times also change depending on which side of the map the cart is. If both teams have an equal score by the end of the map the team that got that score first wins the tiebreaker.
This cup is run in a swiss system. For swiss divisions default dates are automatically generated by the website at midnight the day the round starts. Automatic date generation takes into account the availibility you set for your team in your etf2l dashboard https://etf2l.org/wp/wp-admin/index.php?page=teams.
You can set 3 dates to be taken into account for automatic scheduling. The more dates you set the more likely you get your dates.
If you don’t set any available dates the system sets dates based on a priority system. For a normal 6s or HL season the standard priority of default dates when you don’t set any preference is: Thursday > Wednesday > Tuesday > Friday > Saturday > Sunday > Monday.
For this cup as to avoid overlap with the current 6s season the standard date prioritisation is: Monday > Sunday > Tuesday > Saturday > Friday > Wednesday > Thursday.
This means that if you don’t set any available dates it will automatically generate to Monday.
New Rules Reminder: TOW (Tug Of War)
For Round 4, we are playing tow_tetsudo_b10c. As this is a Tug of War mode, specific rules apply:
- The map is played 1 time.
- Win Limit: 3 Rounds (
mp_winlimit 3)- Time Limit: None.
- Winning the Map: The first team to win 3 rounds wins the map.
- Round Win Condition: A team wins the round by either fully capturing the payload or by having pushed the neutral payload cart further into enemy territory than the opposing team when the round timer ends.
- Golden Cap: If the final score of a TOW map has a difference of only 1 point (3-2 or 2-3) it is classified as a “Golden Cap” result, with the winner being the team who won 3 rounds.
For the cup use the config etf2l_9v9_tow.cfg (We have also uploaded a 6s version of the config if you wish to play around with that).
Please note that matches have the potential to last for some time with mp_winlimit 3. For this reason we will allow either team to call for one free shared additional 5 minute pause per match on the winscreen of round 3 or 4.
