Addressing Recent Events

Date December 21, 2025

Hello, as mentioned earlier this week in a Discord announcement, this post will talk about the recent events and how we will change our approach going forward.

We (Belgium Sodium & Hungary Nixon) want to start this post with an apology to the ETF2L players who have rightfully called us out on mistakes we have made. Furthermore, we would also like to apologise to every ETF2L staff member who has been dragged through the mud because of mistakes that were made in which they played no part.

Recent Events and Bans

When handling the case involving Wales Akio, we admit that mistakes were made by the Head Admin team during the original investigation. This includes not using a pragmatic approach for the sensitivity of such a case. This case was handled with too little care and understanding of how serious the situation was. We also believe that bias was a factor in the original decision to not take action. As we mentioned prior, Wales Akio had access to administration channels and discussions well past her leaving the team and during the investigation which is absolutely unacceptable and will never occur again regarding cases involving staff members. This too was a consequence of the above failings mentioned and as a result we plan to look into any prior cases that may have had her input out of an abundance of caution.

On top of this, in the future if we receive a report regarding a staff member they will initially be suspended from their duties until a conclusion is reached involving staff members not associated with the case in any form. Internally, our new Community Moderation team raised concerns about our initial decision and as a result we looked further into the decision making that happened at the time. This is not an excuse but merely provides some additional context and we want to highlight the good work the Community Moderation team has been doing and the steps taken behind the scenes to improve this process. As a result of these discussions, Wales Akio will be receiving a permanent ban for misconduct.

With regards to Denmark Stu, he too will be receiving a permanent ban for misconduct after we confirmed the legitimacy of the exchanges. We could not verify the legitimacy of these claims when the report was made in early November, but at the minimum we should have reached out to production partners as well as LAN organisers considering his ties to production and the upcoming LAN event at the time. We apologise to the staff involved and with our commitment to improving the pipeline for reporting staff members this oversight will be removed.

Finally for Germany Temmie, they also will receive a permanent ban for failings in handling the aforementioned case involving Wales Akio as well as misconduct that occured outside of the ETF2L platform. We understand that these situations should have been handled sooner, but we hope it shows our intent as a league to improve and learn from this mishandling.

We again apologise for any harm that was caused by our inaction and aim to improve by making a couple of changes in the way we handle misconduct/inappropriate behaviour reports. We are also looking for a better way to be transparent about reports in certain situations, this needs more internal discussion and we will provide an update to this at a later date.

Moving Forward

We realise that our actions or lack thereof have caused the community losing trust in us. We understand that one post can’t bring back this trust instantly, but we hope that our actions going forward can help to start restoring that trust. We remain committed to make sure ETF2L is a safe space where everything brought to us is handled in a safe and secure manner.

From today we will start handling reports involving misconduct against minors in a different manner. We will no longer consider any circumstances and ban indiscriminately and permanently when it comes to serious misconduct involving minors. This means that all allegations of misconduct towards a minor will be taken extremely seriously and any fake or unsubstantial allegations will have consequences for the reporter.

We also would like to address the pipeline for reporting staff members. We are working on a system where community members are able to report offending staff members securely without the risk of having any bias/outside relationships being a factor in their report. Considering the failings in prior cases regarding this pipeline, we are going to shift to a permanent solution for this oversight to remove any risk of bias in the future and to make sure only neutral parties will be involved. For now, whilst we finalise this shift, we recommend reporting your concerns to the ETF2L Moderation team which is a separate entity to the ETF2L League Admin team. We also will reach out to any partner communities should our staff members be involved in their projects for transparency.

1.1.3 Misconduct

ETF2L takes a zero tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct involving minors in the community as well as extreme misconduct involving any community members. We will not tolerate any breaking of these rules regardless of country. This rule encompasses both ETF2L official platforms as well as activities off platform in extreme cases. These rules include but are not limited to:

  • Physical activity involving a minor
  • Depicting minors in sexually explicit ways on the ETF2L platform (No matter what format i.e text, image, video, etc)
  • Depicting minors in explicit ways in the form of extreme violence, gore or general NSFW content (No matter what format i.e text, image, video, etc)
  • Grooming/blackmail involving a minor
  • We heavily encourage anyone who experiences this behavior outside of ETF2L to first and foremost report it to the appropriate authorities as well as the platform owners. ETF2L misconduct reports & bans are not a substitute for law enforcement.

Conclusion

We have reviewed the evidence in the cases that were highlighted this week and have decided the following:

  • Wales Akio will receive a permanent ban
  • Denmark Stu will receive a permanent ban
  • Germany Temmie will receive a permanent ban

The above decisions also have lead us to review some of the other recent bans that we have handed out for similar reports:

  • Morocco buko ban will be extended to a permanent ban
  • Israel Arelelele ban will be extended to a permanent ban
  • Poland n1x ban will be extended to a permanent ban
