Staff changes

Our admin search was successful. Thanks to over 30 people for showing their will to help and sorry we only were able to take in a small number of new admins. A big warm welcome to our new additions, hope you will have a good time!

On the other side, we had to say goodbye to some old admins.  Gryzor, m0re, Freaka and DrG left the staff. Thanks a lot for your help on this project and we wish you the best for the future.

Ban hammer

We are reorganizing our Anti-Cheat team, which is now back on track again. Catching up the first cheaters wasn’t hard. We decided to send a clear signal and raised the punishment to a permanent ban. See below for an overview.

  • [Smart Move]: banned for Season 6 & 7 due to supporting a cheater
  • [Infedel] a.k.a. [Trullo]: permanent ban for creating new account to prevent a ban
  • [Giordy]: permanent ban for using an aimbot
  • [Chinaski]: permanent ban for using an aimbot
  • [oZZy]: permanent ban for using a wallhack

Season 6: Final Divisions + Map picks + Start scheduling

Date September 22, 2009

Season 6: Final Divisions

All 33 divisions for season 6 have been finalized. We have taken into account all division change requests, and applied them where possible. Without further ado, visit the following link to see your division and your opponents for this season:

-> [Final Divisions] <-

Note: Use separate links if you directly want to jump to your division, e.g. https://etf2l.org/league/tables#division4a

Season 6: Map picks open

All teams can now start picking the maps they want to play for this season. This means you can pick one map to play against each opponent. Every map can be picked twice. You can change your map picks as much as you want while the map picks are open, but once they close, the map picks are final, and cannot be changed.

Details

  • Map picks open: *NOW*
  • Map picks close: Sunday, 27th September, 23:59 CEST
  • Map picks page (only for team leaders/deputies): [Link]
  • Don’t forget to submit your map picks in time, or you will be assigned default maps.

Season 6: Start scheduling

All fixtures are now known. Week 1 starts coming Monday. Please start arranging your first matches. All fixtures can be found on the [Fixtures page].

The most common method of contacting your enemy is through IRC, but steam friends works great aswell. There are usually some alternative contact methods entered on your opponent’s team page. Also, on the matchpage, you can make a comment, and as team leader or deputy, you can tick the box marked ‘Challenge Request’, and an email will be sent to the other team’s leader. This is an easy way for us to see if you’ve been actively scheduling the match.

Once you’ve agreed on a match date with your opponent, please enter it into the [Calendar].

If a fixture date is not entered into the calendar by the Schedule deadline, we will appoint a default date. If one team does not respond to schedule requests, please make this known to us (preferably by making match comments). If you suggested a date, and the opponent didn’t respond, you will usually get the date you suggested as default date.

League Config: mp_windifference 0 for ctf_turbine

Some short notice which still is important and effects many matches: Please be sure to set mp_windifference 0 if you are playing a CTF map. A note about this has been added to the official league config.

-> [Official ETF2L League Config] <-

Edit: Also our Rules page was updated with all [Season 6 Rules].

Season 6: Provisional Divisions

Date September 18, 2009

Here we go: all 330 teams were seeded by our staff and put in Division levels from 1 to 6. Later on all teams will be split into groups of 10 teams. The seedings can be found here:

-> [Provisional Divisions] <-

These seedings are not 100% set, you can’t claim anything based upon them, but we’ve worked hard to make them as final as possible.

If you think your team is misplaced, too high or too low, you can notify us of this. If possible and reasonable, we will try to put you in another division. If you want to do a request, please write an email to staff@etf2l.org with the following details:

  • Teamname
  • Current division level
  • Requested division level
  • Structured list of results with the following information included: Date; Type (PCW or League? Include match link if league); Opponent; Maps; Exact map results; Links to result screenshots

Please note:

  • Any appeals must be emailed before Sunday, 20th September, 23:59 CEST.
  • Requests to play in a lower division will always be granted (you don’t need to send a result list)
  • We won’t count any result without proofing screenshots.
  • Do not send the screens with the mail. Upload them somewhere (separate or as package)
  • All screenshots need to have a clear name, e.g. “dignitas_well.jpg”
  • We won’t consider a request without a structured list of results.
  • PCW results don’t mean too much as they are used to test players, new tactics, etc.
  • We aren’t able to realize many requests as almost all spots are 100% safe from previous season results

SteelSeries announces closed-type headset: Siberia v2

Date September 18, 2009

SteelSeries, the leading manufacturer of gaming peripherals and accessories, today introduced the new SteelSeries Siberia v2 Full-size Headset. As the successor to SteelSeries’ signature Siberia Headset which launched in 2004, the new Siberia v2 offers gamers and music enthusiast’s superior speaker and microphone technology that delivers impeccable sound quality, integrated control capabilities, and enhanced design for greater comfort and improved passive noise reduction.

The original SteelSeries Siberia Full-size Headset became a huge success in the professional gaming community and also extended its reach into the music world being used by professional musicians in several high-profile international music videos.

As an upgrade to the original Siberia, the v2 sports an “invisible” retractable microphone system that pulls out from the left ear-cup, allowing for a more convenient and travel-friendly headset especially for tournament players.

The Siberia v2’s increased 50mm speakers will amplify the bass and overall volume as well as improve the frequency response to 10-28,000 Hz. Optimized for professional gaming, where crisp detailed sound can mean the difference between winning or losing, the soundscape features crystal clear high, low, and mid-tones. Tournament players and gamers that battle with loud households will appreciate its new closed ear-cup design which features thick leather padded cushions built from sound dampening foam to increase outside noise isolation, especially important for first-person shooter (FPS) games when footsteps and grenade pin-drops are so important to hear.

“Every element of the Siberia v2 has been optimized for pro-gaming, making this headset a preferred piece of equipment for the world’s best competitive PC gamers,” said Bruce Hawver, CEO of SteelSeries. “What’s even more impressive is that the headset is multifunctional with its ability to deliver an unparalleled audio experience for music lovers and VOIP users.”

Key product specifications of the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Full-size Headset include:

  • 50mm speakers
  • Impedance: 32 Ohm
  • Frequency: 10-28,000 Hz
  • SPL@1kHz: 112dB
  • Cable: 1m + 2m extension
  • Jacks: 2* 3.5mm
  • Retractable microphone: 50-16,000 Hz, unidirectional

Along with the new thicker leather ear-cups for sound isolation, the Siberia v2 remains lightweight while its trademark headband suspension construction makes it extremely comfortable for use over long periods of time. The volume regulator, the cord and its base have also been upgraded. The primary cord is shorter in length for optimized use with portable gear and comes with an additional extra cord for use with stationary computers.

The Siberia v2 will be offered in two versions, with and without a USB soundcard. The virtual surround 7.1 soundcard offers a consistent sound experience, ensuring gamers the exact same sound and settings no matter where they are in the world or at what computer they are playing. With the easy to use software provided with the headset, the user can easily customize equalizer settings, profiles and other output settings.

SteelSeries Siberia v2 Full-size Headset will be available all over the world in November 2009. Pricing will be announced at that time as well.
