This match was delayed by a day because France was lacking some players last week. However, this is not big deal as the next playweek is two weeks long to make room for everyone to play and view the biggest TF2 event to date, the Multiplay insomnia 46 LAN in Telford, England. Back to topic: France finally accepted the proposal for tonight and we are excited how this match turns out! This is another great match from saga: ‘Euros vs Yankees’ because both teams consist of top tier players from both sides of the pond. France has a big part from Premier Division Team France punchLine in their lineup while the USA mates have names like USA enigma, USA harbleu and USA TLR on their side. The funny thing is that most of them will meet again at i46 on even grounds.
VanillaTV is casting this match, starting at 20:00 CEST.

Their opponents will be none other than tf2 veterans from warm Portugal, boasting players like Portugal Coinz, Portugal t0da and Portugal stuntz. Should be an enjoyable match!

Not so many days ago we saw the same nations fighting for the 3rd place throphy in the Highlander Nations Cup and we saw Sweden coming on the top. What will happen in the 6v6 NC though? What kind of lineup will Sweden Zebbosai choose to fight against his own TCM-teammates Finland hocz, Finland Rebeli and Finland hymzi? Last time we saw Sweden Lynx being taken for demo spot, is there anything more for Sweden to show? Hopefully Sweden bybben will come and help his homies to fight for the place in the Semi finals and show which Scandinavian country is better. So many big names so far with potentially more to come, because on Finnish side we might see Finland darn.
All in all this should be a showdown between teams studded with top-level players (except Sweden TheSucker on Sweden), potentially a match to remember.

Highlander Nations Cup #1 Roundup & Season 13 Maps

Date August 18, 2012

Highlander Nations Cup #1

The first ETF2L Highlander Nations Cup has come to a close. 30 teams signed up for this tournament, and they have been whittled down to our winner – Germany Germany. Congratulations to Germany for winning the first Highlander Nations Cup! According to team captain Germany Thy* they did not play a single practice match and completely relied on their superior deathmatch abilites. Apart from that, he had the following to say

“We are very happy to win this competition after we lost to England in the 6vs6 Nations Cup. It was a really good experience and if there is another tournament like this one day we may play again. Thanks to all teams that competed and a special shoutout to Sweden and France for great games. Now give us our money!”

The full standings are as follows:

  • Winner: Germany Germany – winning £972
  • Runner-Up: France France – winning £225
  • 3rd Place: Sweden Sweden – winning a bronze pixel trophy!

Many thanks go to the anonymous donator who gave £1000 as a prize for this Highlander Nations Cup. ETF2L added another £197 to make it easier to divide the amounts by 9 players. Many thanks also to VanillaTF2 for providing coverage to as much of this competition as possible, you can catch up with any missed VODs here.

Season 13 powered by Tt eSPORTS Maps

With only 4 more days until the signups for our 13th 6v6 season open, we’re announcing the official map pool tonight. The following 6 maps will be played during the season:

The rules for the control point maps remain the same and should be known to our players. We will update the rules page in the next days where you can look them up again. Turbine as a “capture the files” map will be played as best of three with up to three 10 minute rounds. The detailed ruleset will follow in a later post.

Probine and Process received the most positive feedback in The Idea Box for the next season. We also took a detailed look at cp_process that is a fairly popular map in the US scene. Due to the little playtime it got so far in Europe, we decided against it for now. To give it a chance for Season 14, we will try to feature it in as many competitions as we can in the coming months.

Staff Changes

We are sad to announce that long time Head Admin Scotland Crasp is stepping down from his position as admin. He has done a lot for this league in the 3 years of being an admin, and we wish him good luck in his final year of University.

Unfortunately UK Miek, UK Oxy and UK Greg are also resigning from the admin team, we wish all of them the best of luck for the future.

The recent staff changes have opened several vacancies amongst 6v6 admins. If you want to take part in shaping the future of ETF2L, check out the full list and send in an application!

With Scotland Crasp leaving, this leaves a Head Admin position free. We are happy to announce that this spot is being taken by Lithuania emb, who has proven to be extremely hard working and efficient recently.

Additionally we welcome Germany ipz and Netherlands skeej to the Staff as part of our newly formed PR and Sponsorship team. Their focus will be to attract sponsors and coordinate coverage.

The Idea Box – now with Steam!

Thanks to our awesome coders, [the Idea Box] now features Steam login! The new feedback forum contains discussion threads not only for unlocks, but cup feedback, maps, season schedule and major league changes as well. Make your voice heard!

Schedule

Summer and our two Nations Cups are almost over, i46 is at the doorstep – time to prepare for the next big TF2 event! The 13th Season of our 6v6 league will once again be sponsored by Tt eSPORTS and the signups will open very soon!

  • Signups: August 22 – September 7
  • Provisional divisions will be announced until Monday, September 10
  • Week 1 starts on Sunday, September 16

You can start scheduling your week 1 matches as soon as the final divisions have been announced to be ready to play when week 1 starts on September 16. Further information regarding the map pool, unlock rules and prizes will follow in later newsposts in the next days.

Signups

The number of signups is variable but has to be a power of 8. We will try to give everyone a spot in the league but to be on the safe side you should sign up early. All teams that sign up after the sign up deadline or do not get a slot in the league because they were one of the last teams that signed up are moved to the waiting list and will replace dropping teams as soon as possible during the first three play weeks.

Applying for divisions

For the seeding, the pro- and demotions will be relevant (as usual). If you created a new team or feel you can jump a division, feel free to apply for the desired division anyway. To prove you are capable of the division you applied for, we require you to submit screenshots of recent practice wars or tournaments where you scored decent results against teams that play on the level you aim for. There is no magical number of screenshots you have to submit, just submit what you have.

Please note that the success of your request mainly depends on the free slots in the division you aim for as established teams will be favoured over new teams or teams that request to jump a division. The screenshots have to be uploaded to an online photo album (for example you can use imgur or Dropbox), zipped archives with tons of pictures attached to an email will be ignored. Please send your application to staff@etf2l.org.

The division application has to include the following information in order to be considered. Incomplete applications will be ignored!

  • Team name
  • Team link on ETF2L.org
  • Division you apply for
  • Link to the online photo album
  • Reasons why your team deserves to be placed in the division you applied for (optional)
