ETF2L is looking for new Staff to recruit! Are you interested in supporting the league? Then click here for more details on what we can offer and how to apply!
The bot draw for the second round happened yesterday afternoon at around 17.30 CET. The few unplayed matches have been decided with a coin flip. You can find the brackets here. Please have all round 2 matches played before Friday, November 30 23:59. The bot draw for round 3 will be held on Saturday at around 18.00 CET.
Many teams asked the admins in the past week how they are supposed to choose the played map so here is a little reminder. As usual, you can find all relevant rules on the cup’s hub page as well.
Until the quarter finals, all matches are played “best of 1” with the map elimination system:
Both teams need to agree on who eliminates first (The team that eliminates second has a slight advantage). If the teams can not agree, they need to perform a heavy fist fight [Explanation].
Loser of the heavy fist fight eliminates a map
Winner of the heavy fist fight eliminates a map
Repeat 2 & 3 until one map remains
This is the map you will be playing
Ultiduo #4 by ETF2L and nervousENERGY Round 2
Unfortunately, a few matches had to be decided with a coin flip because no result was submitted by the end of the match deadline last night. Until the default date tonight, it is not too late to contest the result though, IF you have solid proof to claim a default win.
Please remember that the default date for round 2 is tonight at 20.30 CET and the match deadline November 27. All unplayed matches will again be decided with a coin flip on November 28. A list of all default dates and deadlines for the coming rounds can, of course, be found on the cup’s hub page.
All teams that are still in the cup should also remember to play all remaining matches with the same two players that played in their round 1 match. Mercs and backup players are not allowed anymore in the knockout stage.

Highlander season 3 has played host to some magnificent games so far and tonight’s showdown looks to be no exception. SNSD, seasoned veterans and highlander prodigies, are set to face the dubious Max-Play Highlander Team, current 2nd-place stalwarts and Dark Horses of the competition. Max-Play are aiming to bounce back from their hard-fought loss versus May Contain Nuts and remember the momentum they experienced in the opening week of the season versus Colony.
Max Play are relative newcomers, after obtaining their premiership position through a long and grueling summer and some powerful plays from their star sniper Phroblem. I had a chat with Linka from Max-play about their odds tonight:
“MPHT puts a huge emphasis on the tactical aspect of our play, carrying out our objectives while keeping a level head. We feel that teamplay is more important than the individual level of our players and hopefully you’ll be able to see that through today’s match. We come into this match with our backs straight and heads held high. No matter the result, we consider getting into ETF2L’s Premier Division a huge success, and we’re grateful for the opportunity we’ve been presented with. Let the best team win!”
SNSD are conquerors. After winning everything possible, they’ve progressed into a downward spiral of complacency and disappointment, and although the hard-working Max-play stand a chance of obtaining a good result tonight, there is no questioning SNSD’s pedigree. Over to Linus for his take:
“We’re all excited to play Max-Play. They are clearly the underdogs of the highlander scene at the moment, and they’ve been impressive so far in the season. While I do think we have the upper hand due to our experience and individual player skill thanks to our resident hacker TviQ or possibly the best demo in EU, Kaidus, we go into this official with the same attitude as we go in every other: we try to not to get overconfident, and play like we always do. Hopefully that’ll be enough, but I can see the poles coming up with a nasty surprises. However, our current goal is to secure our position in the playoffs, so there’s not much to worry about just yet.”
This game will be happening tonight from 20:30 CET with a Russian-speaking cast from TFWorld.ru and streamed LIVE with mumble comms with Kaidus Don’t miss out!
Admirable: Bonsoir ETF2L! This is Admirable here burning the midnight oil for a late-night edition of our Season 13 interview series where I try to start fights with the Premier Divisions finest players. In this, our sixth instalment, I have managed to lure Epsilon eSport’s French medic mastermind, KnOxXx. Hello Jean-Louis! How are you?
KnOxXx: Hello! What’s up guy. I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m a bit tired because it’s midnight, but I’m still there, I’m still there on…
Last night at 23:59 CET was the deadline for all group stage matches. Only a few matches had to be nullified and four promotion spots have been decided with a coin flip, because neither team reported the result of the melee fight that had to be played in these cases in time.
You can find the bracket here, default date is tonight at 20.30. A full overview of all rounds’ default dates can be found on the cup page. Rescheduling the match is possible but please make sure to submit the results until November 24 at 23:59 CET or you risk a coin flip.
TF2 MixUp Match 5
After months of preparation, the fifth TF2 MixUp Match is happening in the first week of December. For MixUp #4, more than $14,000 have been donated towards Child’s Play. The charity of choice for the fifth edition of TF2 MixUp is Doctors Worldwide, a privately funded charity focused on creating long term and sustainable health solutions and providing medical relief and humanitarian aid to those in need.
Of course, three of you can once again play with the selected game developers, self-proclaimed comedians, community contributors, commentators, Counter-Strike connoisseurs and crafty miners. All you need to do to enter the raffle is donate through the donation page until November 26 when the winners are picked (you can continue to donate afterwards, of course. Several more giveaways will follow the actual event). Your chances are based on the donation amount, the more you donate, the higher are your chances to win one of the three slots.

ETF2L Season 13 powered by Tt eSPORTS Premiership Playoffs
And then there were 3. Watch live video from VanillaTV on www.twitch.tv
After an epic 3-map struggle versus The Last Resort, Crack Clan have emerged victorious, leaving HYS and his boys to drown their sorrows in a sea of pain and headphone-deprivation, and will now face the resolute BFF for a chance to face the invincible Epsilon eSports in the ETF2L SEASON 13 GRAND FINAL (whoop!) for a share of the bank-breaking €2500 prize pool and Tt eSPORTS gaming gear. Over to Kaidus for the lowdown on the showdown:
C: Good Morning – How are you personally feeling ahead of the big game tonight?
K: The same as I’ve felt for every game since week 2 – if we play anywhere close to what we are capable of then tonight will be a breeze, but we’ve proven so capable of messing things up that it’ll probably end up exciting anyway.
C: Sounds confident. How much does a win mean for you and your team tonight?
K: A win means that nothing changes and we have the same goal we’ve had since we started out, but a loss would be pretty devastating I guess.
C: Anyone who watched the last game will know how strong CC are on cp_gullywash. How do you intend to counter them?
K: Well they seemed pretty momentum based against TLR, so my plan is to bind spam ipz and bring their mumble atmosphere crashing down in the process. But in truth, we aren’t gonna do anything special against CC – we’ll just play our game, and when that doesn’t work cookye will get 3 kills.
C: How confident of a win are you?
K: I’m confident we can take it, just need to not be bad
C: Who will cause the most problems for you tonight?
K: Probably TviQ. His brain doesn’t work the same way as other peoples, perhaps it doesn’t even work at all. Either way he always has some outlandish play up his sleeve that can throw a spanner in the works.
C: What do you need to do to take the game?
K: As long as we show up somewhere close to form we just need to run around and shoot people.
C: Excellent, best of luck; any shoutouts before you go?
K: Twitch.tv/kaiduss – will be back in a day or so
C: Anything to say to CC?
K: Nerds
After Kaidus went to sleep (very rare to see him up at 9am) I decided to pay TF2’s very own Rainman, Ipz, a visit.
C: Afternoon Ipz – How are you personally feeling ahead of the big game tonight?
I: I’m excited, we are well prepared; we’ve done our homework and fixed our flaws, as we are playing our away maps tonight.
C: How much does a win mean for you and your team tonight?
I: We accomplished our goal for this season already. (third place) We’re a good team if our momentum is good and our comms are focused. We’re coming into this official satisfied with the wind on our backs from thrashing TLR, however, we hope to give a good show and win because we have a bone to pick and a score to settle with BFF.
C: You’ve seen how capable BFF are on badlands this season. How do you intend to beat them at their own game?
I: They are playing strong because Kaidus is doing a lot of damage in a safe position with minimum heals; its hard to reach him. Cookye is the second part of their badlands strategy, as the soldiers aren’t doing much. If we finish off Cookye early, then badlands mid is over for them!
C: Who’s going to cause problems for you tonight?
I: Cookye & Kaidus
C: How are you going to win tonight?
I: Focus Cookye & Kaidus! – Their soldiers are small fry in comparison to their scout and demo backbone.
C: Do you have any shoutouts?
I: We want to shout out Dox, for his excellent promotion, with his creation of the CC TF2 hub. Dox is working so hard right now with his advertisment and excellent work. Huhy is doing a really helpful job streaming for us and pushing us forward. We will be live on twitch.tv/crackclan tonight with mumble comms and exclusive content! We’d like to shoutout to the ETF2L AC team for staying within the policies and rules of ETF2L.
C: Any messages for BFF?
I: Smoke weed errday. Oh and btw, we’re going to run TviQ on sniper during Gullywash so Darn hulk smashes his keyboard to pieces.
VanillaTVwill be casting this game LIVE from 21:15 CET, hosted The Dark Knight, AcidRenix, & his boy wonder, Beta, with surveillance footage from the crafty Joker (Comedian); see you there!
