Staff Changes

After a long and faithful service in the Anti-Cheat team we say goodbye to our most veteran anti-cheat admin KillAri, who wishes to focus on other endeavors. His professionalism and knowledge has been an inspiration to all of us in the team and we wish Killari all the best in the future.

Bans

Some players have been spotted with recent VAC bans affecting Team Fortress 2 and thus are now banned from ETF2L for one year:

• aka jack
• fireballz
• Mr. Ray
• Staregineer
• VinylScratch
• SwordfishGame
• SwordfishGame – alt of Swordfish_

As these players have not been caught cheating by our staff, their match results are not affected.

The following players have been caught cheating by our Anti-Cheat team. They are banned from ETF2L for 1 year:

• Banyan – Multihack
• Lance – Multihack
• junnu  – Triggerbot

The following players failed to provide requested demos twice and are therefore banned for 2 weeks:

• empty
• dffdls
• Mayh

Additionally, these players have attempted to dodge a ban. They will be banned for an additional year:

• bobby – alt of novazz
• Phil – alt of E4rl
• dkt – alt of Deket
• Ruri – alt of alexav

We now have more than a hundred thousand registered accounts on ETF2L. To ensure all competitions are as fair as possible, us AC admins are working hard – but there’s only so much you can do with five pairs of eyes which is why we’re asking you, the community, to help us keep alt accounts of banned users from playing in this league. Every little thing matters, no matter how obvious or trivial the information seems. We appreciate all the help we can get by our users reporting their suspicions to us, and of course everything will stay anonymous if you wish it to be. Reporting can be done by going to our support page and typing !acrequest in irc.

League Admins

With several admins closing in on retirement due to old age and/or summer vacations, plus a rather sizeable amount of additional work due to the Highlander Open we’re looking to bolster our ranks with some fresh meat!

Among other things league admins take admin requests on IRC, deal with match conflicts, handle the setting of default dates and the verification of played matches. They also create and oversee cups – and everyone loves cups!

The Highlander Open created a huge influx of players into ETF2L – more than 250 teams signed up for the tournament,  many of which are completely new to competitive TF2. There are a lot of things to be learned, a ton of knowledge is hidden away in rule sections and new player guides. While we’d like for everyone to read all of the manifold written pieces on ETF2L and on other sites, that’s a somewhat unrealistic notion. So we’ve decided to write this news bit as a quick reminder of how to make sure all your matches run perfectly smoothly and to point towards those various guides if you haven’t found them yet.

If you read the HLO hub page, you will recognise most, if not all information listed here – but two are better than one!
