Staff changes

Our beloved Head Admin Permzilla is stepping down from his position. He has delivered the following statement:

Regretfully I am stepping down from my ETF2L duties with immediate effect. For some this might not come as a surprise as I have been fairly open with my intentions to step down over the last few months, however for others this might come as a complete shock.

I am proud of what ETF2L has achieved during nearly 3 years of being an admin here, and I am grateful for the opportunities I was given. Every moment has been enjoyable, the people I’ve met and the experiences made are unique. I am going to deeply miss the years spent as part of ETF2L.

For those curious of the reasons, I am currently in my final year at University with my finals coming up shortly. Given the choice between university work and ETF2L work I know which I will prioritise (I’ve been doing it for 2.5 years of my degree already!). Therefore I’ve made the decision to remove that choice from myself.

The rest of staff are all dedicated and hard working and I have no doubt ETF2L will continue to thrive from this point onwards – Everyone knows Germans run this league anyway!

Permzilla

The rest of the ETF2L staff wish Permzilla good luck with his studies.

Our Highlander admin Leftism is leaving the staff. We thank him for his commitments to the league and wish him good luck in the future.

Hildreth has also left the staff. His short term as PR admin was a success. His efforts with the Archimedes Cup will not be forgotten.

Lastly, our newswriter Lyrete has resigned after a period of inactivity, due to loss of interest.

All the departs from the staff aside, lawn has completed his trial as an Anti-Cheat admin, and will be joining the staff permanently. Welcome!

Bans

This player has been caught impersonating an ETF2L staff member in an attempt to scam a contact of the league. He will hereby be banned from the league for five years:

Prizepool

Thanks to our main sponsor for this event scrap.tf as well as whitelist.tf and tf2pickup.net (make sure to check our their websites!) we are able to give out 225 € in prizemoney + 80 € in raffles donated by scrap.tf.
Additionally whitelist.tf and tf2pickup.net will contribute 9 keys, 9 specialized killstreak kits, 9 strange weapons and cosmetics, 9 regular killstreak kits as well as several professional killstreak kits for the raffles.

Rules clarification

Mercs
As we did not announce Highlander Season 8 yet, Season 7 rules will apply for the cup. You will be allowed to have one default merc. However, you can use more than 3 mercs, if your opponents agree with it. Please note, that every merc has to be presented and accepted on the respective match page nonetheless.

Maps
Abusing a map exploit where the player is able to get behind the BLU spawn on keikoku is not allowed. Any team caught doing so will receive a default loss.

Map update

Since the original announcement post on sunday, cp_keikoku_pro_rc1 has been released and will be used for the cup. Make sure you have that version downloaded and in your mapsfolder as well as on your servers before the cup starts!

Whitelist update

The whitelist has been updated. Please make sure you upload the latest version of the whitelist to your server.
The new whitelist is available here

If your team is using serveme.tf as a server provider, you can select the new whitelist when reservering a server. Go to League Whitelist and select etf2l_9v9_onc6.

If your server is equipped with tftrue, you can load our whitelist by typing
rcon tftrue_whitelist_id 3091
Both teams have the responsibility to check if the correct whitelist is loaded before each round. This can be done by typing ‘status’ in console if TFTrue is loaded to check the whitelist ID

Coverage

As usual, our highlander streams will be casted by BlackoutGamingTV and will be made available on their youtube.
So tune in and watch all the action, scrap.tf has set up a raffle bot in the chat, which will post raffle links specifically for you viewers to win awesome in-game items!

Approaching ETF2L Highlander Season 8, we decided to host a One-Night-Cup to provide some interesting maps out there with a little more playtime and feedback and give teams a reason to start playing Highlander again! And who knows? Maybe we will see one of the maps again in Season 8…

The cup will be held on Saturday, the 28th of February. Both fun teams and 9v9 teams may enter the tournament, you can sign up your team here.

As usual, the cup will be split into higher and lower brackets, depending on the amount of sign-ups. The top 4 teams from each bracket will recieve a shiny pixel trophy on their team page respective of their place to show it off to their jealous friends.

The schedule and the maplist is as follows:

• 19 cet: Round of 8 starts on cp_sunshine_rc5
• 20 cet: Round of 4 starts on cp_keikoku_pro_rc1 (please use the stopwatch config as it is an a/d map)
• 21 cet: Finals (Best of 3 maps with koth_warmtic_rc4 as the 1st map)

The first map in the finals has to be koth_warmtic_rc4. The loser of the first map picks the second one out of either sunshine or keikoku. The decider, if needed, will be played on the remaining map. Please note, that cp_keikoku_pro_rc1 will only be played as a Bo1 (a/d). You just attack once and defend once.

The whole tournament will be held as a Knock-Out without group stages. Please make sure you have downloaded the maps before the Ro8 to ensure that matches are played on time!

The rules will be the same as the ETF2L HL Season 7 rules with the only difference being this whitelist, which contains the unlocks we are considering for season 8!

Signups close on Friday, the 27th of February at 23:59 cet!

Logjam Updated

As you may have noticed, Hyce published a new version of cp_logjam last night, featuring mostly bugfixes. Due to this happening during the week logjam is being played; we leave the choice which version is going to be played in any officials to the teams: Unless both teams agree to play cp_logjam_b18, b19 will be used. Please check you’re on the correct version before starting to play your match, as any complains after a match will not be valid.

Rules Update

To ensure a smooth transition from week to week, we’re changing how we handle submission of match results and screenshots.

There is now a definite deadline for all results and screenshots each Thursday, 23:59CET (as opposed to having 72h after the scheduled match start to upload results).

In practice this means: We will still remind you to upload screenshots if you’re missing any. On Thursdays, 23:59CET however we will verify all matches, even if results submitted by one team aren’t yet verified by the other team; and nullify any matches without results. We’ll also apply relevant warnings.

If you began to play your match before the result deadline, but didn’t submit the score before that deadline, contact admins to submit the score. We’ll then decide if your late result submission is justified.

Season 20 powered by Tt eSPORTS – Week 2: Reason Gaming vs Übersexuals

Week 2 starts off in spectacularfashion with a match between Se7en and SUAVE. After last season kaidus swooped in to pick up the best pieces left behind and created the new Se7en. With a promising roster they’ve put on an impressive display dispatching Salty Frogs last week comfortably. Coming up against them are last season’s champions SUAVE. Likewise they easily beat their first opponents, who is? in the first week. Many have tipped the two teams to finish on top of the table without anyone else contesting them so this match could go a long way in shaping up the rest of the season. We should be in for a cracker!
