The level is mixed it depends on the people who are active in certain timeframes. In my opinion it's little misjudging we have HL playoffs coming, a lot of people have exams in near future or now and not everybody has time for mixing, especially higher leveled players. It's community which is important in this kind of services and my responsibility isn't more important than yours(people who are just players on channel).

Have you any interest in criticize mix channel? Level isn't even close to lobbies and we promote good attitude in playing comp highlander, we restrict people who refuse to communicate or trying to troll. On lobbies you don't have control over the players and a lot of games are just stack with more experienced players versus newbies. We try to avoid that. We haven't got channel like that since Colony spreadsheet and there was some issues with it as well, mix channel is quite popular now. If you're hungry of really high level games why don't you do elite channel for Prem/Div 1 players?

I think it's cool that you put all that effort into it, but the level is obviously dropping all the time, which I guess isn't your faulth.

I agree to an extent. Practice will always make you better if you actually want to improve. However, I think talent eventually makes a difference at the top.

So negative, Monkeh! You make it sound as if it is a chore.

From my experience, there are 2 types of mentees:
- Those that won't improve much regardless
- Those that never actually needed mentoring

Some people seem to think that having a mentor will make you a good player overnight. The only thing they have coming is disappointment.

But there are also people who were seemingly born with a talent. You can teach them stuff, or you can't, it doesn't really make any difference. One such player I took into my lower div team ages ago and now I am his biggest fanboy. Seeing someone progress like that from up close is an amazing experience on its own.

Quoted from Pandahh

YESSSSS! Ever since we got our we have improved so much.
#Monkeh <3

Ha! Little do you know you'd have been much better by now without my help. Mu-Ah-HA-hA-ha-HAH-HA-Ha-hahahahahaaaaaaaaa.

But seriously, I've had a go at helping quite a few newbies down the years and the main problem I've found is that you younglings fail to listen properly and actual try to do what is suggested. The amount of times I've told medics to look behind them more or demo's to stick with the combo more or whatever and then sat and watched an STV where the advice is completely ignored in the heat of battle.

Best way to mentor is to actually play and call for the team in my experience. For individual mentoring watching demos or being in spectate and whispering over a mumble whisper bind can be good.

These guys I'm helping out now actually listen and try to apply what we discuss which makes the whole process sooooo much more rewarding for both parties.

It's also quite a long road to see major improvements, players have many and more bad habits to break.

Being able to realise your own faults is a massive bonus too, the amount of times I'm telling scouts to watch flank and not choke and them to say, 'Yeah, yeah I know....', then why are you at choke then?!?!?!?!?

To make the most out of being mentored I suggest:

Look at yourself and be honest.
Listen to your mentor and try to apply what they say.
Accept you're bad at the game.
Watch your own demos every now and then and analyse carefully why bits went wrong and why bits went well.
Be nice to people.
