    	    <description><![CDATA[You could boot under a program like Winternals, which lets you browse your HDD using its own operating system on the CD, then copy stuff to an external before reinstalling windows, or try slaving the laptops drive on a desktop machine.
Do you have the windows CD? I believe you can access the system restore files from that even if you can't directly boot into windows.

    	    <description><![CDATA[so I wake up to find some shitty virus on my laptop, no idea how it got there.

I can launch it in safemode, but normal launch, all exe. 's just wont work etc.  I can't afford to bring it to be fixed, but my question is this...

Is it too late to put my files onto an external hardrive? And can it be done in safe mode or am I fucked :(

Any help is greatly appreciated :(]]></description>
