Any 4000 series card should support shader 1.1.

How did you try to change it back? The correct way is to use -dxlevel 95 on the command line, if that doesn't work, delete autoexec and try -autoconfig

Ok, so after a while playing on directx 8 i got bored of the graphics and i wanted to put it back on 9.

BUT when i tried that i got this error message
"Your graphics hardware must support at least pixel shader version 1.1 to run this game!"

The weird thing is that i've played on directx9 before and that my pc can handle BC2,AC2,Crysis, etc etc

I'm using an ATI radeon 4000 series card (dont know exactly the one precisly) and i've installed all the latest updates for it.
