When I first switched to window/noborder mode, the brightness also seemed wrong to me.
I didn't try changing it in game, I just removed the -window launch option, started tf2, closed it and then re-added the -window option, and the brightness was the same as my desktop.

Like chris said, could've been placebo but that's what seemed to work for me :)

Don't forget that if you don't mind messing around with brightness out of game, most current graphics control panels will allow you to boost it, and I think you may be able to set it to trigger when a program is launched, have a look.

Ah, right!

You need to set it to be the same resolution (size) as your monitor.

So if your desktop is 1440 x 900, make tf2 1440 x 900 too, and put -noborder in your launch options. :)

You could do it like this in your launch options:

-sw -noborder -w 1440 -h 900

If you mean 'will it look the same', then yes. I think that people don't know what you mean by "the same drawings".
