maybe the build of 1.2.0 that you were using that worked is not the one currently available on the site, and that's why it doesn't resolve the problem.

btw fakkelbrigade still runs a 1.1 server if you want to test a 1.1 version.

I'll give the suggestions about application priorities a try tonight, along with limiting my TF2 rate (it was at 7500 and 10000 last week, I only changed it to 60000 after redoing my config with -autoconfig a few days ago).

I experienced the same problem recently, after having almost exclusively used Ventrilo for months. My bars were literally spiking off the screen with my 4.5 year old pile of junk. I noticed a significant improvement by doing the following:

(1) Restart computer, open only Steam, Mumble and TF2 before playing.
(2) Open Task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del), Set process priorities as follows:
- hl2.exe : high
- mumble.exe : low
- Steam.exe : low http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2192/mumbleprocpriority.png
(3) Unsync with steam cloud http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/9266/syncsteamcloud.png , disable steam in-game overlay, shut down all Steam friends chat windows.
(5) Disable all plugins in the Mumble advanced options.
(4) End the process explorer.exe (after this you can still navigate with alt-tab) http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2192/mumbleprocpriority.png Afterwards, restart like this http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/2946/restartexplorer.png .

Some of it might not even be significant, I haven't narrowed it down to the major cause of improvement, but if your problems are bad enough you might as well try all of it. Also thinking about putting togeather a script to set the priorities.

my bet is combination of crap download and people on your mumble server with insanely high quality settings

rate 60,000 (60,000 bytes per second) translates to 480,000 bits per second

so...actually, looking at it, it doesn't even need to be insanely high... I'm told by people in the know that with a sync speed of 512, you only get 55 kilobytes of usable speed (adsl sync speeds are the speed of the raw adsl conversation; there's protocol overhead which cuts down on the amount of usable bandwidth)

go to speedtest.net and paste result link?

Hope it helps Snowie.. WMI interfaces the VOIP protocol that mumble uses. So it could help. I cant imagine VOIP using that much broadband space even with high quality, so it might be something else congesting or choking your connection.

Good luck on your journey back to the lands of rage, mumble love poems and hysterical match callings ;) If I find something that might help Ill post here :)
