It happens with any other hud and account and cfg

The thing is for some misterious reason, one month ago I got 100 fps on any server, while before that having the usual 40-60. Today, without and warning or anything I just have 40-60 fps again. I've tried new configs etc. got a few fps out of it but nothing compared to when I had 100 straight. Also when I had higher fps opening in-game chat would not change anything about fps.

Clean your computer? Maybe it has clogged over time

It sounds insane... I doubt it has anything to do with TF2 at all, more of a script bug, that probably is hidden somewhere...

I highly doubt you have something wrong with your configs, but if trying everything on different accounts and configs didn't help, maybe try reinstalling. It always helps.
Format/defrag would help too, TF2 and Steam really mess up discs.

But I really think it's something within any of the scripts, or the files, that's tanking your pc power until you press a button.
