OK, so, I had some results yesterday with my issues (as i'm sure many of my opponents will be happy to know, believe me guys, going 8/21 because i'm lagging against you is just as fun for me as it is for you to try and hit me, really).

I read around many websites trying to figure out what i could do, i ended up stumbling across an email address for the VM CEO called Neil Berkett, i emailed him with my issue and explained the shitty customer service i received on their help forums and a person called Marina got back to me letting me know that a "Specialist Agent" would be in touch via phone with me to discuss the issue.

About an hour later i got the phone call and he said again that it IS because of High Utilisation in the area but there IS nothing they can do about it, unless it gets WORSE they wont do anything about it. So instead he said we can cancel our contract without any charges.

Result?

Now i just need to persuade my mum to actually do this, haha, as we have to switch Phone, TV and Internet if we do switch, so it's a bit of a pain.

Any suggestions for GOOD companies in the UK? Remember that we have to get TV, Phone and Internet (atm we're looking at Sky probably, anyone have any experience with Sky Unlimited package?)?

Have you done a proper test with nobody else connected and minimal things running? So often it's a flatmate running their torrents at full upload in the background.

Also look at disabling all the DDoS prevention and related settings on the router, they usually cause issues.

Also bear in mind the traffic limits at certain times of the day: http://help.virginmedia.com/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=VIEW_ARTICLE&ARTICLE_ID=389465&CURRENT_CMD=SEARCH&CONFIGURATION=1029&PARTITION_ID=1&USERTYPE=1&LANGUAGE=en&COUNTY=us&VM_CUSTOMER_TYPE=Cable
It's pretty easy for your connection to get congested while limited.

Those tracerts and pingtests were done when i was the only one in the house with internet on, and nothing running at all.

The DDoS stuff i turned off when i first moved in here because it was causing packet loss, massive amounts of it. AND i dont have limits, the only limits i have are a 10gig DOWNLOAD limit EVERY DAY between like 10AM and 6PM and 7gig between 6-1AM or something. Then they cut the DOWNLOAD SPEED to half.

FRom what i can tell, when i asked Spike if that might be the issue he said it wasn't.

(I'm the only one in the house that downloads anything, i live with my parents etc.)
