I do/did have exactly the same problem. But it happened very irregular. Sometimes can i play for hours and nothing happens and on another day the problem appeared after a few minutes. Strange thing about it is the fact that this error occurs only with tf2 and no other game.
But thanks for the hint with underclocking. I´ll try this too. But i hope that there is an easier solution. ( don´t want to underclock my graphic-card everytime before playing tf2 :D )

For about a month now my game will randomly freeze for about a minute, during that time I also get a sound loop of the last second. The sound loop includes mumble, not just tf2. After that the game responds again but it looks like this-
http://i.imgur.com/wmyVo.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/v9JaI.jpg

At first I though my GPU is dying but this only happens during TF2, all other games are running smooth. Any idea what could be causing this?
