In case that was directed at me, I was asking because some of the things he mentioned (namely, that his OS was having problems detecting the card) combined with the fact he said he replaced his MB made me think he might not have reinstalled Windows - 95% of the time you won't even be able to boot Windows if you do this, but if it's a 'similar' chipset on the old board to the new one (i.e. Intel Q35 to Intel Q65) then Windows will boot, but you'll have all sorts of device problems because you're running the wrong chipset drivers.

If that's the case, then he might have fixed his current problem, but still not be in an optimal state.

Did you reinstall your OS when you replaced the motherboard?

reset cmos, run bios in load fail safe defaults that should eliminate any self inflicted faults.

other than that, reseating you components can give surprising results on the odd occasion. i had a similar problem with my crossfire setup. i took everything apart, put it back together and has been running stable ever since.

i highly doubt you have managed to pick up 2 faulty cards on the trot.

Urm as said before i am the definition of a noob, what's a cmos reset and how to run bios in load fail safes?

600w power supply so should be fine on that front

I've tried an older version of the catalyst control centre but no luck. Going to the library tomorrow to get a copy of the driver disk it came with as i have no cd/dvd drive as a last shot. I've even tried changing all the power cables lol.

other than that i'm stumped and my dad who is a bit of a tech geek has no other suggestions either.

Would there be anyway to confirm whether it is or isn't a mobo issue?

If there's no other option can anyone suggest a suitable replacement?

Processor is AMD Anth640
Graphics Card is Radeon HD 5770
Price is of the utmost importance as i have £200 until October :D
