What happens if you run a 'clean' install? I.e. no configs, no huds, no other modifications, just plain vanilla. Also, have a look at Chris' reset script in his configs thread. It has helped a million folks with various problems so far.

Solution for this may be the same as all the "can't alt tab" threads but let's give it a go. Since the update before last, my FPS will occasionally drop for seemingly no reason from around 150 to slideshow levels. This happens even with absolutely everything in the background turned off, and has never happened before. Would appreciate it if someone could post the general fixes for this kind of thing, and anything else they're aware of Thanks people
