If you run the steam backup process, I believe it backs up the GCF files, leaving you free to uninstall the game, delete the team fortress 2 directory within steam/steamapps/username, and then restore from the backup as a "clean install" but with the latest updates

Has worked in the past for me

Presumably you could also backup the gcfs manually, delete from steam with the same process, get it redownloading, quit steam, put em back, and restart steam, for the same effect

two things you need to do before full reinstall

1) press tf2 properties in steam and "verify integrity of game cache"
and if that doesnt work
2) exit steam and remove clientregistry.blob from steam directory
relaunch steam

The TF2 update some days ago made it crash when it's almost fully loaded... I have checked for updates for my graphics card-driver, even though i updated them like a month ago. I also checked for software-updates for every piece of hardware on my computer, still not working(found no updates btw). Reinstalling is my very last option, since it will take around 1 week of downloading to get the game again...

Anyone that have had this problem and fixed it? If not, anyone else got any idea?

(Sorry for bad grammar and any misspellings)
