I've had the same issue ever since I got a new computer that runs windows 7. My in-game voice is terrible but in mumble it's perfectly fine.
What is the command to turn micboost off in your config? That might be worth a shot

After a few people complaining about my mic during lobbies, I was wondering if I had spend too few money on my mic. But nevertheless when I'm in mumble mic is working perfect. So I suspect that TF2 has problems with cheap hardware. Is there mic bandwidth somewhere to be configured in cfg in TF2?
