are you genuinely suggesting WHQL means shit

might i remind you that the notorious 19x driver that nvidia released which killed tons of cards was WHQL approved... speaks tons about what's "money" and what's "testing"

First of all, don't update graphics drivers on a live system, that's some Windows idea that has some seriously shitty ideas of sensibility surrounding it. Stay with the first GPU driver that you install, short of going into a PE and chrooting/installing the INF manually (which I don't really recommend either).

Automatically updating (hesitantly put the word "any" here) drivers is a downright stupid idea. Don't do it.

Usually bugs like this are caused by failed upgrades (generally leaving a partially out-of-date portion behind). Try uninstalling your drivers using add/remove programs, and then rebooting into safe mode and running http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ to remove your drivers, then reboot (reboot into "normal" Windows, NOT into safe mode) and use the latest installer FROM THE ATI SITE (ie. not through Steam).

Seems disabling steam community ingame @ tf2 properties fixed the crashing mostly, but now whenever I load up tf2 my screen flickers a lot, black screen for quite a long time, freezing (as if tf2 is finding it hard to put it in the right resolution)..

I play in 1440x900

I've put it in windowed mode now into my native resolution (1680x1050), no border, now it loads up instantly without any problems .. anyone any idea? :/
