Sorry for bumping an old thread but the last few days, (up to a week or so) I've had choke issues from time to time. It's happened every evening but not all evening, I think it's to do with housemates but I thought I'd ask the collective community if they had any ideas.

Choke goes up to 40 at frequent spikes with no obvious recurring time gap between them. Is there any way to fix it or any way to implement QoS without buying a new router (bought a WRT54GL and it broke in less than a week).

plus: it's probably best if you install it on all machines and set the traffic shaping mode to net talk.

OR: get a decent router with a good qos implementation (e.g. pfSense).
