The decision to ban the new unlocks has absolutely nothing to do with their effect on gameplay (positive or negative). It's because they have come out halfway through the season, so we can't have half the games being played with one set of unlocks and half played with another. Not forgetting that it still takes a reasonable amount of time to both get and learn to play with / against new unlocks. There simply isn't time to do this during an ongoing competition.
