That way you can build a SOCKS proxy to the outside world, and make Mumble use that proxy server.

Quoted from d2m

Dear [University] IT Support,

My name is [name] and I am on [course].

I have been experiencing some difficulties with utilising the provided Internet connection to assist me with [course] that I am studying, and I'm hoping you can help me.

I [currently pay/get free/steal this connection from small jewish miners] and I'm getting a little frustrated that your blocking of ports is not enabling me to complete my course at the high level I would like.

Some [classmates/colleagues/rabbits] and I, have organised a study group to be held 2-3 times a week over a free voice communication program called Mumble. The benefit of this, is that it allows us to all meet in our own time, we can have as many people as we like in the chat and we have the facility to record the study groups for future use if we need to.

Would you be kind enough to unblock 1-2 ports so that we can all participate in the study group and share our valuable opinions with each other? I'm sure you can agree that organising a group like this is utilising technology for a good purpose and thus you should be able to understand my concerns at not being able to participate currently.

I look forward to hearing from you soon and to being able to join my classmates in our study group sessions.

Kind Regards,

Hai.
my University blocks almost all of the ports that mumble uses to connect to servers, theres been literally one mumble ive been able to connect to -saspink's (port 6969) and ive got onto a community mumble i use all the time only because the owner forwarded another port (143)

i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and was able to overcome it? or is the only way having an owner forward some ports?

thanks :>
