edit: just checked on the company's page. They only have 4 routers :s I think the best one would be the third one ( http://www.internet.lu/cal_home/20070125164730.htm ), a Scientific Atlanta EPR2325 Wireless Cable Modem/Router. Is that any good?

If you know sweet FA, you have a cable setup I assume from reading OP, most cable routers are 1 click installs whether using the CD, or going to control interface using web browser (personally i'd never use the router utility that comes on the CD, but they have got better over the years).

*edit*

I you or anyone in house use a wifi connection for ease make sure the new router has the same SSID and security code (and type), then you will not have to re configure all the wifi adapters

Instead of having half the TF2 community suggest the router they currently have and raving about it like a bunch of dribbling spastics, could we just have people who actually know about routers (like know about them, not just looked up the most expensive one on the PC World website) giving reasoned suggestions.

(I'm not going to suggest one as I'm not an expert on SOHO routers)

I have sold maybe 250 D-Link DIR-655. Maybe got 5-10back, not because they were broken. Because the customers thought it was hard to configure, couldn't do it or because they didn't need that fast router.

Netgear people bring back all the time, we sell mostly the cheap so nothing strange there, but even the more expensive ones come back aswell.

Linkys have had one really great model (WRT54GL) But it didn't have the speed (original)

The DIR-655 is a great router with good thoroughput (100Mbit no problems) good Wlan capabilities and not so pricey. And really stable! Yes i have it myself also but it wasn't because i was told it was good, was because i knew it was good.

And never use a cd to install a router. You don't have to install a router, just configure it. Don't install shitty utilitys the manufacturer sends with the router. All you need is a web browser.

Yeah i work in a computerstore.

In your country, idk what is your knowledge like?
Some router installations are alot more straight forward than others (belkin for cable put install disc in follow on screen instructions)

Out of the hundreds of routers i've installed, I don't seem to RMA many Belkin or cisco routers, I've sent a fair few netgear routers back, not had any issues with US Robotics/3com routers, and since cisco aquired linksys their routers have improved alot

Just make sure where ever you buy whatever router from, it is easy to return if it does not work, and make sure you can take it back to the shop and not have to RMA it yourself

If it's a few years old, it's prob fooked, certain routers (no idea about yours) suffer from over heating, if it has vents on the bottom make sure there is a gap for ventilation (don't sit it on carpet), or just try just turning it upside down.

Borrow a router from someone else, see if that fixes your problem, if your isp sent you the original router, see if they will send you a new one
