Cheers man, but I gave those fixes a try and it didn't help. Thing is, it isn't my steam client update thats hanging, it's the games. Ok. Try renaming the files again so TF2 is at that 40-60% downloaded. Uninstall the game, delete local files I think the button is (on my laptop, can't remember exactly). Then go to install it from scratch. Stop the download, then kill steam and change the file names back. If you look in "SteamApps" in the steam folder, there should be a bunch of .gcf files for TF2 (materials, content, etc) Shut down steam, then rename them to something else (just so steam doesn't know what they are). Start Steam again and it should start trying to download TF2 from about 40-60%. Stop it, then kill steam again. There will be new GCF files there, delete them and change the originals back to their proper filenames.
