Cheers man, but I gave those fixes a try and it didn't help. Thing is, it isn't my steam client update thats hanging, it's the games. Even the games I had fully installed don't seem to load up anymore.

Cheers, that's done. But it doesn't work :( renamed them back and ran steam again, was at 99% then paused itself and doesnt do anything after that.

Ok. Try renaming the files again so TF2 is at that 40-60% downloaded. Uninstall the game, delete local files I think the button is (on my laptop, can't remember exactly). Then go to install it from scratch. Stop the download, then kill steam and change the file names back.

(Sounds weird, I know, but it fixed the problem when the same thing happened with CSS a while back).

If you look in "SteamApps" in the steam folder, there should be a bunch of .gcf files for TF2 (materials, content, etc)

Shut down steam, then rename them to something else (just so steam doesn't know what they are). Start Steam again and it should start trying to download TF2 from about 40-60%. Stop it, then kill steam again. There will be new GCF files there, delete them and change the originals back to their proper filenames.

My computer seems to have aids, or steam specifically. Came back from a week or two away and Steam updated, tf2 and css updated as well. But now I can't launch any game as it says this game is unavailable, and tf2 or css doesn't finish updating. They hang at 99% and then just pauses the download by themselves. I right click and theres an option to pause the download even though it already is paused : So I do that, then I choose resume update and for a couple of seconds it says "downloading at 5 bytes/s. Obviously pretty damn slow, and then it pauses itself again!

Anyone have any idea what it could be? I've deleted .blob, reinstalled steam and it's still not helped.
