So my first ever cast on camera is behind me. It went pretty good, but looking back I could have been more prepared. Especially with spechelper.

My idea was to use 1-9 for RED team and 1-9 on the numpad for BLU team. But with 18 players getting that sorted in warmup is a PAAAAAAIN! Does anyone have any tricks to make that setup quicker and more consistent?

I was editing a config file on my 2nd monitor while on autodirect. But I could never finish it before the game starts. And ended up abandoning it for this game at least.

The config looks like this:

plugin_load addonsspec_helper

// RED

bind 1 "spec_player_ex 2 0"
bind 2 "spec_player_ex 2 1"
bind 3 "spec_player_ex 2 2"
bind 4 "spec_player_ex 2 3"
bind 5 "spec_player_ex 2 4"
bind 6 "spec_player_ex 2 5"
bind 7 "spec_player_ex 2 0"
bind 8 "spec_player_ex 2 1"
bind 9 "spec_player_ex 2 2"

// BLU

bind "KP_END" "spec_player_ex 3 0"
bind "KP_DOWNARROW" "spec_player_ex 3 1"
bind "KP_PGDN" "spec_player_ex 3 2"
bind "KP_LEFTARROW" "spec_player_ex 3 3"
bind "KP_5" "spec_player_ex 3 4"
bind "KP_RIGHTARROW" "spec_player_ex 3 5"
bind "KP_HOME" "spec_player_ex 3 0"
bind "KP_UPARROW" "spec_player_ex 3 1"
bind "KP_PGUP" "spec_player_ex 3 2"

you make a video in what ever software and then loop it in your media player of choice and capture it with window capture in obs

the quality of looping is down to software you use and video itself

i use MPC to play them as it imo has great window capture and easy way to loop videos, however i dont recommend leaving it on in background of tf2 if you want high fps stream as it eats loads of cpu if you have a good quality high fps video

Thanks!

One final thing I'm curious about is the looping video I've seen on a lot of casts. Usually active while waiting to join the server or waiting to get STV info.

Is that just a flash swf video of some kind? Does anybody know?

tv_nochat only kills STV chat, but leaves the actual player's chat intact.

or just wait till they die

casters mention reloading hud bcs thats how you fixed it some time ago, now you just have to wait for the amount of time the pause was

personally only "tf2" keys i use during streaming is:
bind "pgup" "volume .06"
bind "pgdn" "volume 0"
bind "mouse5" "+moveup"
bind "mouse4" "+movedown"
bind "i" "spec_autodirector 1"

and two keys that are bound to configs with Default xhair or permanent scout xhair in case stv is bugged and not showing default xhair..

other good stuff to have:
snd_musicvolume "0" //no music
engine_no_focus_sleep 0 //no fps drops when out alt tabbed
snd_mute_losefocus 0 //sound on when alt tabbed
cl_spec_carrieditems 0 //no player item hud
cl_trading_show_requests_from 0 //self explanatory
tv_nochat 1 //no stv chat

ofc dont forget the default rates as stv will be laggy with any lower ones

sorry did not know that but a lot of casters mention doing it from time to time so I guessed that it had its use

upd: bind x "record demo" should still fix the lagging player models after unpausing ?
