So i was wondering whether you can turn down you bass using some equalizer in windows vista. these are my current speakers http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Multimedia-Theatre-Speaker-System/dp/B0006LCMK4/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1269981355&sr=8-8 The big bass thing is currently on a pillow under my desk and the little speakers are allocated around my desk.
My problem: Everyone complains in my house that the bass is too bassy (lol), for example im listening to music quit quiet and i get a text saying turn the fuking bass down this is when they are in the room above me and trying to sleep. i like my music and my films but i dont wanna disturb people. The thing is i dont even play the music loud and ive turn the bass down with the switch on the bass speaker and still no luck. i;ve tried most things like pillows and shit no luck.
inb4: why the fuk do you wanna turn the bass down
inb4: headphones. ( i have mates round alot and headphones jsut dont work)
any help will be greatly thanked.
if you didnt understand something just ask im not great at english even though i am from the uk
I had those speakers a looooong time ago, (they broke unfortunately, volume knob snapped off) and I then got a set of a speakers that have a far more powerful sub (this was before I even bought TF2, about early 08). If you had asked me 12 months ago I would have agreed with you not to get headphones. But tbh, I bought a set of a Medusa NX’s and have never looked back. I have my siberia’s on pretty much all the time, very rarely use speakers.
However, If you look at the back of the sub, there should be a knob which turns it down a bit. Just do that when you’re playing TF2.

You could always try altering the EQ in Windows Media Player, I doubt that its directly linked to your stereo mix but its worth a shot. Open up WMP and i think EQ is under the tools section and just filter off the bottom end.
Alternatives:
1. Unplug your sub – wont sound anywhere near as good but elimiantes the problem at the source.
2. Buy a Pair of cheap 2.1 speakers that you can use sometimes when housemates are in. They wont be able to reproduce the lower end anywhere near as well as your 5.1 setup.
3. I think there are a couple of standalone Graphic EQs you can buy from the interweb that seem compatible with vista.
4. Buy a pair of headphones (best option imo, you then have the alternative of selecting what you want regarding the situation, i.e. people arent in, get the 5.1 speakers out. Its late and people are home, have some respect and plug in the headphones.
5. Soundproof your roof :)) get lots of materesses and stick them against your walls, will absorb those long bass frequencies, wallah
Hope this helped

edit: do the speakers not come with some software?? as more than not the software would include some form of EQ

I’m assuming windows 7 is similar to Vist..
Goto Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Adjust system Volume > Click on the icon of the output i.e Speakers > and select the tone tab.
Failing that, I suggest waht someone else mentioned earlier go into WMP or winamp and adjust the equalizer there and see if it sticks. ^^
