after getting a new motherboard, CPU, 4 gigs of ram and windows 7 64bits ultimate, i noticed my system was only detecting 3.5gb of ram (see pic
i have a Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H motherboard (bios revision F5A), an AMD Phenom II X4 955 proc and 4gb of kingston valueram.
also, according to the booklet, the motherboard supposidly can support up to 16 gigs of RAM
does anyone have a clue what could be wrong?
You have to change something in the BIOS to enable the computer to use all of your memory. You have to activate “Memory remap feature” in the Northbridge meny in BIOS to make it work.
(If this is already activated I have no idea what could be wrong)

even worse, i don’t have this feature in my BIOS…
anyone else has some suggestions? otherwise, i’m contacting gigabyte support
Sound strange if you don’t have an option for that.
Maybe it is just “hidden” a bit and hard to find ? Or maybe the Bios needs to be updated, even if this is a bit unlikely if everything is new.
Contacting the support is probably the best idea here.
This may sound condescending, but are you SURE its a 64bit version of windows?
Memory remap in BIOS should only be needed for 4GB+, not 4GB.

I have 4 GB and my computer(64 bit Windows 7 system) told me only 3 GB were usuable before I activated “memory remap”.

i searched everywhere for it, but couldn’t find it, i looked in all sub-menus as well, and i have the latest revision (i updated it only 2 and a half hours ago)

4gig ram + 512mb on the videocard = 4.5gig
