No, by speaker I meant the driver itself, not an actual speaker. :P

Indeed, A speaker at the end of the day is just a magnet that vibrates a diaphram of some kind to make sound. On headphones which have no amps, etc,,, All you can really do is change the material/size of the diaphram to make it stronger at certain frequencys.

"Gaming Optimised" is 100% a marketing term and doesn't really mean anything tangible.

Sennheiser make AMAZING quality headsets, but afaik they optimize them for music, not for games, so it can be quite unfitting for a gamer. Although, I have my doubts, that this can only be a marketing trick by "gamer" companies like SS and Razer. Can't say for sure, though :)

'gaming' headphones are generally made of shitty cheap components. Better off getting a set of high quality studio or DJ Headphones or anything that doesn't have gaming or f4tal1ty slapped across them.

Saying that, I wouldn't go for the Razer headphones if it was a choice between them and the Steelseries. The Steelseries has a remarkable frequency response at the low end, its very good actually. Look better aesthetically and are probably better made, they look a bit more robust along with the microphone being a bit more discrete and retractable making them more versatile if you are not just going to use them for gaming.
