Infinity Ward has started developing a massively multiplayer online game, possibly for the Call of Duty series.

Well this certainly won’t work well without dedicated servers.
I’m sure that wouldn’t stop them trying..

It’s not surprising, MW1 and 2 are pretty much a masterclass in incentive based gaming.
I’m sure it’s gonna be huge…look at MW2, terrible tv spots, no dedicated servers, massive sales. They’d be stupid not to make an MMO.
WW2OL and Planetside are the only MMOFPS i can think of? They were ok but not good enough to stick with, if they could make that work….. seriously best game ever.
The rumours about it being a cod MMO are completely bullshit, a few days ago IW announced that they would like to stop making CoD games in pursuit of making something else. The story of an IW MMO wouldnt be a bad one, Infinity Ward are under the Activision-Blizzard publisher, so they could get a little help from the MMO gods! If we want some real cod news, Treyarch’s next game this November will be set in the Nam.

neocron anyone?
so itl be like borderlands except levels are for silencers and scopes…and 100000000 people per server!
That is just what i hav bin whaiting for :D
a fps with the opjektives, to kill a mob boss or something like that. And then you need like 6 ppl, to break into a head base, fortress or something like that. If they make a gam like that they are gonna make billions and billions :D
I like the thought of the “spirit” of an MMO mixed with an FPS like teamwork, relying one your party members, group spirit etc in a public FPS would be great, just dont see it happening, the community is to young etc.

global agenda seems to be working pretty well, also considering that they removed the “grinding” parts typical of mmos
its still 3rd person, but at least its a quite fast paced shooter
