    	    <description><![CDATA[If you do come down to using a quad core (i know you said you probably wont), do not get the Q6600 (Basic 2.4GHz quad core). Doesnt perform as well as it could with TF2 (taken from experience).]]></description>

tl;dr : Cache size dosen't make a difference in games. :)

and hes right, e7200 with a OC like that is fine with TF2. If you're getting lag i'd say its your TF2 config or internet connection. Make sure you have multicore rendering and TF2 multicore config enabled.]]></description>

    	    <description><![CDATA[Not talking i5 or i7 here
i have an asus p5ql pro motherboard does anyone know what i can get which will out perform what i currently have (e7200 stock 2.53 @3.6ghz) but its cache is tiny and the game often lags even with an fps config. 
I am not too fussed about getting a quad core just yet. if that isnt going to give better performance in tf2 than a dual core for the same price. as i dont do any rendering or video editing i dont think the quad makes that much difference in tf2. plz correct if wrong.
rest of system is decent enough:
4gb ddr2 1066mhz
4850
