I've had my talent for 2+ years with multiple mice (ec1, fk, DA) and it still works wonders. I don't know what tracking issues you are talking about. The only issue I have with it is that the fabric is starting to slowly peel off the base.
The top was on a part of my talent that wasn't 100% flat (the rubber base isn't very consistent). http://tweakers.net/ext/f/qaveajTg0ez2WO9g3j1W5JFd/full.png This is the first time I run into this with the Talent. The only other problem I had was with the Xai, but that was more dust than anything else. Kinzu, G100, G400, DA, Salmosa, Abyssus, Diamondback, Krait all tracked well. At first I thought it might be a problem with the mouse. I just got it when I noticed so that was the most logical thing. To confirm I got a pad that should work 100%: Zowie's own GT-F Speed. I wanted to try this so called combination of cloth and hard pad anyway. It solved all my problems and was even smoother than the Talent. It's slightly smaller, but I can live with that. edit: my talent is 3 years old.
