Lich is a relevant support, just because he isn't in the meta doesn't mean hes not relevant, people play him in pubs because hes OP, hard lane Lich is annoying to play against. In safe lane effectively pushes the creep wave towards your carry + a nuke to spam, better than KotL imo. Well now, a story for you. I started Dota with absolutely no clue whatsoever. Never heard of creep waves, last hitting or anything. I picked Storm Spirit for my first match cuz he had the campest introduction, big gay blue thing that he is, amused me no end. I charge off to 'mid' and cast my first skill on the first hero I see, charge up to towers and end up with something like 0-22-1 with I think 1 last hit. I then play dragon knight for a bit cuz I saw Chaplain playing him. Then after a few matches I decide to go read a guide or two. They suggest Lich as a good hero to learn the game with. 'Right then' says I, 'Lich it is, let's play him a lot to get used to how the game works.' After a fair few games I try other heroes and end up using all my mana up real quick as I'm now conditioned by 'Sacrifice' into sub consciously thinking I can re-fill mana very easily... Basically playing any other hero for a while meant I ran round feeding and being useless and that shit aint fun for anyone. I found it very hard to break away. Slowly though I have been playing more heroes recently, last night I played a couple of Lich games for old times sake and enjoyed myself. Even got to go mid as well, against a Mirana too, heh, bad times for Mirana. So yeah, I've played a lot of bot games with different heroes but I'm sticking with support generally now and learning as much as possible. I do love the Lich though, great fun, awesome lane control and nearly useless past the 45 minute mark. Chain frost though, oooh chain frost.
