Fate/Stay Night is 26 episodes which is a good length (most anime are around 13 or 26 episodes long for one season).

I do recommend it also though. The film of the alternate story, Unlimited Transition Works was even better but it'd probably be good to watch the series first.

Fate/Zero is a prequel that you should watch last and it's brilliant so far (it just started again this season from episode 13).

Beserk is nice but the manga is pretty hardcore and anime is more light, its still ongoing on manga and a movie is coming out this year about the 1st arc

Aiki funny martial arts manga :)

Samurai Deeper Kyo swords and martial arts with some power ups and shit, and its finished, theres also anime of it

Rurouni Kenshin Its just a few episodes but i think its worth it if you havent seen it or read it, tho the manga is pretty much the same as the manga since there are no fillers.

Hajime no Ippo Boxing, if you like it its fun.

and pretty much all the other ppl said above, some are nice some are weird and others are just fucked up :)

I don't watch an awful lot of anime, but the few series that I did watch and recommend:

Ergo Proxy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergo_Proxy .. A bit odd, but quite epic.
Noein - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noein .. Interesting is the best word to describe it.
Berserk - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berserk_%28manga%29 .. Man with giant sword taking care of shit.
Gungrave - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gungrave_%28anime%29 .. If you like gangster movies, you'll like this. But even if you don't, this is still good :)

Not sure to recommend:

Claymore - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claymore_%28manga%29 .. Woman with giant sword taking care of shit.
Chrono Crusade - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Crusade .. If you're looking to kill some time, was alright but I did stop watching half-way through.

The anime of bleach has just recently ended right before the start of the final arc. The final arc is going to be the longest yet and the manga will take years to complete. Once the manga's finished, it will most likely be animated (or when it's close to being finished).

Anime mentioned in this thread (excluding what you've seen) that are 10x better than Bleach:
Bakuman (second season just ended. about two guys trying to make it as mangaka)
Gurren Lagann
Darker than Black
Death Note 1st half
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (don't be fooled, it's not a cute magical girl series)
Baccano (it's quite surreal but very good)
Code Geass (it's amazing, gets a bit messy during the second season but returns to awesomeness for the ending)
Evangelion (probably the most acclaimed mecha anime ever)
Eden of the East

Avoid:
Death Note pt 2 - cuz shit. Light becomes stupid. Ending is shit. Near and Mello and detestable and shit.
Naruto - I watch it but it's pretty shit
Fairy Tail - I watch it too, it had potential, I enjoy it sometimes but it's pretty shit, 90% power of friendship, and overall too cheesy imo.

Also watch (just ones off the top of my head) -
Steins;Gate (About time travel, hilarious, serious and sad, sums it up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Bf0aYBk0OQ)
Durarara (Amazing, don't be put off by the first 2 episodes if you find them dull, shitty trailer but whatever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pL7l8i2Q4fc)
Katanagatari (This is how an anime focussed around fighting should be done. Good characters, story, fights and beautiful animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBhOyWWE3MQ)
Bakemonogatari (Not related to above. About supernatural shit but mostly dialogue. I love it but not everyone's thing.)
Monster (just read the ann synopsis and gawk at its rating: http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=3750)
Daily Lives of High School Boys (Arguably the weakest in the list but also probably the funniest. It's a comedy sketch anime: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6leL_yv34cQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO0aYbrO1Zk)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Thriller. You must have heard of it. Starts of cute a bit like Madoka Magica, ends up with psychos and mutilations: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8wLU6E8Zsg)

Included a range there. Would help to know what kind of anime you like. If you want a still-ongoing, long, mainstream shounen series, I'd recommend one piece and hunter x hunter.

There's also the new Lupin the Third anime that just started airing this season.
Only episode one is out but it's AMAZING. Non anime fans would love it (even spielberg is a fan).
Go download it from www.sagesubs.com (you'll need a 10bit player like MPC-HC/CCCP).

Related to that last point, don't be a faggot that streams anime.
