as the answer changes as far as a cpu goes, also cba to check whether your motherboard is an AM2 or AM2+ (cpu's maybe supported in former, but in a limited capacity)

below is a cpu comparison from L4D2 (closest to TF2 I could find) note that tests conducted on a ddr3 mobo (AM3) not ddr 2 (AM2/2+)

Imo thats just stupid. You can always just wait and wait to get the new releases and never get a cpu. Just buy one. Sandybridge gonna give enough fps boost.

I think he meant not going for an am2+ quad, but instead saving up a bit and then getting a new mobo/ram/cpu altogether. Besides, it's only like 300€ for a 2500k and a mobo?

I have a Samsung 2233rz 120hz monitor. I do love it but there are better 120hz out there. The resolution only goes to 1650 x 1050 i think. But yea, definately get a 120hz monitor if you are looking to buy a new one, it does make a significant difference. Not quite CRT standard in terms of refresh rates, but the next best thing!
