.... I know that lol, but I thought WMP and itunes were resource heavy so I figured that I'd ask to see if there were any good resource-lite players (with the thought that it would be easier on the battery life, I obviously didn't expect to see my battery act as if there is no music playing)

thanks for the help guys, I'm for sure going to check foobar out

oh, yes. i always read 'media' as meaning 'audio and video', but it does seem that op is referring exclusively to music...

in which case, i agree. foobar2000 is what i use when i'm on windows (cmus or deadbeef on linux), just does what it says on the tin, low resource usage, sensible defaults.

You're highly unlikely to find that switching your media player will affect your battery life. The main determination of that will be whether your software/hardware combo supports GPU acceleration, but even that shouldn't have too much of an effect. That said, I highly recommend MPCHC and ffdshow-tryouts over anything else (even VLC for a variety of reasons which I won't go into simply because pretty much nobody will understand them), but I doubt it will have any effect on your battery life, as I don't believe your media player itself will really affect that to anything other than a negligible degree.

Hi, computer n00b here.

Whenever I play music on my laptop I notice a significent drop in battery life, and I was wondering if this was do to WMP/itunes being resource-heavy or whatever. If thats the case, does anyone know any media-players that are easy to use, and have all the basic funtions (shuffle/repeat/playlists/etc).

thanks.
