3000 doesn't have nkro and build quality is much lower than Filco for example. If you can live with having apostrophe in a totally insane location on your layout, the 7G is actually one of the better ones. ALMOST as good as the c64-keyboard ever was, but you can't expect people today to get shit like this PERFECT! IBM Model M is still, as you point out yourself, the best option if you can get one in good condition (don't forget the usb->ps2 adapter!). Even so, you would still have to re-spring it yourself to get it really comfortable. The 7G, on the other hand, is just like Model M also beer-proof. I washed mine in the tub with some warm water after an "accident", like new! Try that with your "gamerkeyboard" for 50 bucks. 10.000 lines of code can't be wrong.
Model M's are a blessing to type on, but they are only 2KRO which is really shit. Unicomp has new Model M copies, slightly lower quality but still top notch, don't know how the kro is for those. Filco, Ducky, SS etc all have nkro on ps/2. PS.
