1) What the fuck are you doing with your Studio?
2) Sony Vaio's are may look nice but they are still fantastically awful build quality

Dell's are worth looking at if you remotely value build quality. You're paying a little more for the specs, but it won't fall to bits in 12 months time, thats the impression I get from seeing an awful lot of laptops, my own Vostro 14 for example is still chugging along great after nearly 3 years.

Check out the Dell Studio 17, but not on the official Dell site with build it yourself, etc, check here:
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dfo&
http://ndc.co.uk/browse_sub-Studio_17-92.html#GBP

I know its "refurbished", but really its new for all intents and purposes, just make sure to check it doesn't say its scratched/damaged etc in the description (most aren't, but if they are it always explicitly tells you so in the description).

As I say, got mines from NDC, and about another 3 from those sites for other people, never had a problem.

Would be near perfect for your needs then. Both having proper specs and 17" monitors. One more thing I have to add. I know it costs bunch of money to get warranty extension to laptops (to get 3y warranty), but its worth it. I have been working with laptops past 5 years by installing fixing and stuff. I have seen it all. Personally I would not buy any laptop anymore without extension to warranty time, they are not build like 10 years ago when they could stop a fucking nuclear attack and survive.

Gaming is always bit so and so with laptops because of the integrated graphics card solutions most of the laptops use, but i will just throw a few options of units what drops on your price range and has a "proper" graphics card in em. Those are just suggestions, few on top of my head. But what ever laptop you ever get do a check list:
- at least 2 core prosessor
- at least 3gb memory
- ATI or NVIDIA graphics card. (never ever take any intell or another manufacturer options if you are planning to run any game on it)

Edit: just checked your link and it seems that unit is on my list too ;)
